US says China likely to build more overseas bases, maybe in Pakistan

I think a Chinese military base in Pakistan could prove to be a huge deterrence against India. Indians are heavily sensitive towards any Chinese naval presence in the Indian Ocean. Having a Chinese naval base with heavily armed Chinese vessels will be a huge setback for the Indians and could even make them reduce their covert activities against Pakistan. Gwadar is situated in Baluchistan iic.

China is poised to become the military superpower so any claims by China should be listened to.

yeah the report is more based on speculation.
China will become a military power, because China has the responsibility and obligation, China to protect the security of 1.3 billion people, to deal with various security challenges, the need for a strong military power, but China will not become an American-style superpower, which is Deng Xiaoping in United Nations guarantees to the world. Deng Xiaoping said in the United Nations: China will always stand together with the third world countries, will never claim hegemony, if one day China has become a superpower, but also to plunder and bully other countries, then the people of the world and the Chinese people should be Up to expose and defeat him

if both china & pak wanted to build military bases in pak they could have built one
btw it is great idea by US in order to stop terrorist activities within pakistan by both brotherly nation & to protect OBOR & CPEC

Yes انشاالله
China is a superpower.
They should build their military bases in gawadar and near the borders area.
It will be pleasing.

That would create a headache for India no doubt- But that would not be just because of Chinese presence but other powers coming in and creating conflict situation- dealing with a single power like China is easier than dealing with USA, China, Russia, Saudi and Iran all at the same time-

Chinese presence in Tibet has not reduced Indian covert operations one bit- on the contrary old SSB is being re-raised for operations in Himalayan countries and Tibet- there is a special department for Tibet called establishment22 you should read about It- It had also operated in East Pakistan- Gwadar will just make their operations more intense, probably a reason why Indian PM mentioned Baluchistan and agencies are getting in touch with Baluchi groups for the first time openly-

Who is East Pakistan and who is Balochistan?? Balochistan isn't as fertile as East Pak to produce proxy traitors like Mujib and his cohorts like mushroom!!!! Anyway, I think Pak folks are fully prepared - even their War College and Infantry training schools are located there!!!!

What can be a more welcome news for the Pak folks than learning that India has initiated an East Pak like ops for Tibet????? I envy you Ey Pak Millet!!!!

-Pakistan wont let china make a military base in its soil because if it does that then USA will get full authority to make one in India. In case of war between giants , our grounds will get hurt most.

China should build bases in Pakistan as long as they are shared by both. China & Pakistan's alliance is based on trust, not by "strings attached".

If the U.S. builds bases in India it will be by "strings attached," not by trust. Most importantly of all, Russia will immediately turn their back on India and be forced into the Sino-Pak camp.

We don't have to set up military base in Pakistan. PN has the very ability to protect themself. As long as PLAN can dock and replenish in Pakistan' port during patrol, it's ok for me. The presence of PLAN fleet in IOR will be more frequently as we are churning out battle ships.

China is building a military base in Djibouti. :undecided:
Japan as well

Having a military base in Gwadar will damper commercial attractiveness of CPEC. Ladies and gentlemen, PN will have 8 brand new AIP subs with TOT from China in the future. So you guys don't have to worry India. Never give Yankees the excuse to set up military base in India. Let's say, if India allows USA to station on its soil, China and Pakistan will respond acxordingly.

We only set up military base if Pakistan invite us to, or push comes to shove.

If China and USA clashs, Russia will rise. If Russia and USA clashs, China will gain a lot. So who wanna be the loser here of these three? I say no one. India is not playmaker, it's only the chess on the board.

If say China and Russia join hands to bring down USA from the throne, we will be doomed as well. Cause war among the three will be devastating, and Japan and India will rise.

There is no war directly between super powers, it's all proxy war.

If anyone break the rules of the game, then he might have to go to hell.

There will never be a war between the 3 superpowers, but it is still wise for China to ally with Russia to balance US hegemony. China will need at least another 2 decades to prepare our 4-6 carrier groups, until then we are still no match for the US Navy. US only respects power, if we have the gunboats ready, they will start to negotiate.

Pentagon report cites China military buildup / Beijing likely to set up base in Pakistan

10:35 pm, June 07, 2017

The Associated Press WASHINGTON (AP) — China’s construction of a military outpost in Djibouti is just the first of what will likely be an ongoing expansion in friendly foreign ports around the world to support distant deployments, a new Pentagon report concludes, predicting that Pakistan may be another potential location.

The annual assessment of China’s military might also notes that while China has not seized much new land to create more man-made islands, it has substantially built up the reefs with extended runways and other military facilities. And it has increased patrols and law enforcement to protect them.

The Djibouti base construction is near Camp Lemonnier, the U.S. base in the Horn of Africa nation. But U.S. military leaders have said they do not see it as a threat that will interfere with U.S. operations there.

“China most likely will seek to establish additional military bases in countries with which it has a longstanding friendly relationship and similar strategic interests, such as Pakistan, and in which there is a precedent for hosting foreign militaries,” the Pentagon report said.

“This initiative, along with regular naval vessel visits to foreign ports, both reflects and amplifies China’s growing influence, extending the reach of its armed forces.”

The military expansion ties into a broader Chinese initiative to build a “new Silk Road” of ports, railways and roads to expand trade across an arc of countries through Asia, Africa and Europe. And countries including Pakistan and Afghanistan welcome it as a path out of poverty.

But India and others would be unhappy with additional Chinese development in Pakistan, particularly anything linked to the military.

China has cited anti-piracy patrolling as one of the reasons for developing what it calls a naval logistics center in Djibouti. Construction began in February 2016. Beijing has said the facility will help the army and navy participate in U.N. peacekeeping operations and provide humanitarian assistance.

But the expanded presence around the world would align with China’s growing economic interests and would help it project military power further from its borders.

The report cautioned, however, that China’s efforts to build more bases “may be constrained by the willingness of countries to support” the presence of China’s People’s Liberation Army in one of their ports.

Unlike previous reports, the new assessment does not document a lot of new island creation by China in the East and China Seas. Last year’s report said China had reclaimed 3,200 acres of land in the southeastern South China Sea.

Instead, the new report focuses on the military build-up on the Spratly Islands in the South China Sea.

It said that as of late last year, China was building 24 fighter-sized hangars, fixed-weapons positions, barracks, administration buildings, and communication facilities on each of the three largest outposts — Fiery Cross, Subi and Mischief Reefs. Each has runways that are at least 8,800 feet long.

Once complete, the report said China will be able to house up to three regiments of fighters in the Spratly Islands.

China has also built up infrastructure on the four smaller outposts, including land-based guns and communications facilities.

The report added that, “China has used coercive tactics, such as the use of law enforcement vessels and its maritime militia, to enforce maritime claims and advance its interests in ways that are calculated to fall below the threshold of provoking conflict.”

The only ally of China until now is Pakistan. We don't have to make alliance with Russia cause we are doing business with USA. We only need to manage our doorway, like Taiwan and SCS. Let USA do the world police and they gonna bankrupt soon.

Concentrating all resource in manufacturing fighter jets/tanks/Subs/missles/battle ships, prepare to show hand with USA 20 years later.

That why always I persuade Chinese not to convert to USA nationality, cause a war between China and USA is unavoidable. We are preparing it.

USA only believe zero sum game, no win win in their dictionary.
