US President Donald Trump orders Pentagon to create US 'Space Force'

Humanity also decided that nuclear weapons are terrible and that we should make efforts to reduce their existence to zero. How is that working out for everyone?

http://www.nti.org/analysis/reports/nuclear-disarmament/

As long as humanity cannot resolve differences thru diplomacy, which implies compromises, humanity will always seeks advantages in warfare. Did we stopped at gunpowder? Or the machine gun? No, we kept going. All the way up to exploiting the atom.

Russia, China, et al, to follow? We are counting on it. You think those countries have not thought of the idea to gain at least one upper hand over US and the rest of the world?

Yes and what is also true is that every new killing mechanism was enacted by white people.
and world's biggest wars and massacres were mainly white affairs.

Asalamu Alaikum

Laugh all you want, but it's very feasible.
I am asking to you a simple question to you, HOW IT WILL BE POSSIBLE THAT THIN METAL ROD FAILING FROM SPACE WILL DESTROY A WHOLE COUNTRY/CITY, THIS IDEA DOESN'T FIT IN MY MINDo_O:crazy:, if this tech is feasible its destroy much less area like village & town not Cities/Countries, GET OUT OF YOUR FAIRY TALES, FANTASY LAND @dsr478 :enjoy:

Do you know how acceleration works?

I stil remember Ronald Regan's Star wars program and how miserably it failed. Also use of space for war is prohibited by international treaty because USA is not the only one capable of doing so, others are also willing to station weapons in space. Stupid Trump has started a chain reaction.
Star Wars program was dropped after the split of USSR bloc. In-fact, Reagan administration is credited for bankrupting USSR by locking it in a costly arms-race.

Bush administration revived Reagan's Star Wars program by launching GMD project in 2001 which has considerably advanced since its inception. At present, MDA oversee GMD project and space-based assets such as SBIRS and STSS complement its operations. Trump administration wants to advance the program further.

Space-based arms race is very expensive by the way. Only US and China can afford it in the long-term.

Warfare is increasingly becoming the domain of the rich.

In 2 decades, only the biggest and richest countries will even be able to think of going to war. Smaller countries will get slaughtered on the field without even being able to up a fight.

Advanced underwater, subterranean and space technologies will simply be the prerequisite to even be considered a military force.

yes but doesn't mean it can destroy whole city/country, those rods will not have infinite acceleration, look the Ballistic missile warheads reentry speed which slightly above Mach-5 to Mach-15 (SRBM TO ICBM), so dummy (without explosives) warheads do minimal damage to at least of town/village, think logically @dsr478

US President Donald Trump has ordered the creation of a "Space Force", saying it would be "separate but equal" from the Air Force, the media reported.

"We must have American dominance in space. Very importantly, I'm hereby directing the Department of Defence and Pentagon to immediately begin the process necessary to establish the Space Force as the sixth branch of the armed forces. That's a big step," he said in the White House during a meeting of his National Space Council on Monday.

"We are going to have the Air Force and we are going to have the Space Force: separate but equal, it is going to be something so important," CNN quoted the President as saying.

In addition to calling for the Space Force, Trump signed Space Policy Directive -3 on Monday, part of his administration's push to lead in the space.

Space Policy Directive -3 is primarily focused on satellite traffic management and mitigating debris in space. The policy, executive secretary of the National Space Council Scott Pace told reporters, "seeks to address the challenges of a congested space environment".

"If we're going to expand the economy in space, we need to make sure it's done in a sustainable way," Pace said.

Trump previously floated the idea of adding a "Space Force" branch to the US military - a concept that has received some support on Capitol Hill but drawn scepticism from the Pentagon,
its great for america.... i wish pakistan can do something close to this...

Trump cannot 'create' this new branch of the US military on his own. This requires an act of Congress. All the president can do is propose and hopefully he/she can convince enough legislators to vote for the project. Nevertheless, Trump started the notional ball rolling.

I think it is possible to destroy entire cities and/or take out extremely hardened targets with such kinetic weaponry: http://www.businessinsider.com/air-...c-weapon-hit-with-nuclear-weapon-force-2017-9

Scale of destruction would depend upon how many are unleashed.

Your video clearly show that those rods will destroy a relatively of the size of town/village let alone city/country @LeGenD :disagree::p::hitwall:
Even if a town then what about launching 15 rods in a city ? Rods are cheap without any requirement for maintenance and you can keep unlimited numbers in space ...

People here mocking USA are elite trolls, they have unique capability to troll on any topic without any knowledge, trolling is like compulsion to them which they cannot stop, it's more like a disease, best remedy ignore them.

USA did the moon landing in year 1969, when the computer technology was primitive and few KB's of RAM was considered premium and MB's platinum, now map that to current age and technology and estimate how far there research would be, if they are announcing something like this, then by now they already would have something up there sleeve.

Nobody is trolling but actually is against for weaponizing space ...

We can strap a few explosives on it if need be, I still think it's not a half bad idea.

Rods are also much cheaper than nukes, you can get far more of them.
