Before the 1900's the islands were PART OF IRAN and the Brits took them from us. After they decided to leave THEY HANDED THEM BACK TO IRAN. You guys weren't even a country. The Qawasim (Plural for Qasimi - a ruling tribe-) were ruling the emirate since as early as beginning of 18th century (as per written records at least), their emirate included some southern parts of present day Iran and some Islands (including Bander Lengah and the disputed Islands as well) and what is today emirate of Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah ( if my memory is correct).

They had been known to have a big sea fleet along with the Omanis and they used to attack the ships of the to be colonizers (British, Portuguese) who came to the region to take over it, and they (the Europeans) started to call the sea fleet of the Qawasim as "Pirates" in revenge for the repeated defeats at their hands and after a severe Naval battles the compete fleet of Qawasim was destroyed.

You are true their was no country before 1970s called UAE, but there were individual Arab emirates existing as "Emirates" since as early as early 18th century ( as per written records at least) which are now the base of what is UAE.

It is sad how strong the qawasims were in the southern shore of the Arabian Gulf and how they have ended up just in the emirate of Sharjah and Ras Al Khamah (within UAE boundaries). The great great grandfather of the current ruler of Ras Al Khaimah and the great Grandfather of the Current ruler of Sharjah were brothers and during their time it was being ruled as one big emirate by their father and the emirate got split later on and as they say in unity their is strength, after the emirate was split they lost control of the part of the emirate which was in the southern parts of Iran.

All the three disputed islands are related to the the Qasimis (Abu Musa realted to the Qasimis of Sharjah, Greater Tunb and Lesser Tunb related to the Qasimis of Ras Al Khaimah)

Also Iran only needs missile to destory your country+saudi arabia, if i were uae i would respect Iran, they are a very ancient and smart people, who existed long time before the arabs, now arabs come and say lets change the name of the persian gilf to arab gulf.

As for the name of the gulf, historically it had many names such as the gulf of Basra, the gulf of Qutaif or the sea of Qutaif, the gulf of Bahrain along with Persian Gulf.

Presently 2/3rd of the total length of the coastal line on the Arabian Gulf is the coastal line of Arab Countries.

During the existence of the State of Qawasim and Ahwaz even the northern coastline of the Arabian Gulf (presently southern and south western parts of Iran) were under Arabs, so Iran did not have much of a coastline overlooking the Arabian Gulf.

Lord Curzon says in his book "Persia" (If i remember the name of the book correctly) that the Persians are a nation having an historic inherited fear of the sea.

It was suggested to the Persians some years ago to name the gulf as the Islamic Gulf but Khomeini rejected the idea.

It was also suggested by the Ruler of Sharjah (belonging to the Qasimi tribe) to the Iranians to name it the Green Gulf, this suggestion was also rejected.

I did not want to discuss this issue (the name of the Gulf) as it does not relate to the topic of the thread but since you opened the issue I just wanted to shed some light on it.

I don't see any "wahabi" here and neither i am suffering from myopia or hypermetropia. As far as i know there is no "wahabi" neither in this forum or in the real world, but there are Muslims who try to follow the Qur'an and the sunnah of the Prophet (PBUH) and try to keep the religion and religious practices clean and safe from Un-Islamic additions.
