The US 7th Fleet (Task force 74) has an history with India during the 1971 war. During that time Nixon/Kissinger deployed the USN 7th Fleet under USS Enterprise to help Pakistan against India in 1971. There was this famous incidence where the Russian subs encircled the task force and literally saved India.

I don't understand why you are being so defensive about a historical event. I will start to get worried when/if they start attacking India like they did against Pakistan on 2011 and killing 24 soldiers. Till then it's just show-off of little practical value. If you expect India to start firing missiles just because they crossed into out EEZ, they you mistaken. There's a difference between acting tough and acting foolish.

Such unilateral actions by the US are disturbing.

Not too long back US conducted drone strikes within Pakistan and also an operation to capture Osama. In those instances it was a little more violative compared to EEZ violation since it happened within the physical borders of an independent nation.

In this case only options are diplomatic in nature. Just hope that it doesn’t escalate into something bigger. India needs to be vary of US overtures w.r.t QUAD and maintain adequate manoeuvring space.

What is interesting though, and I cant pin point the reason for it, the big powers like to finger India at a time when their leaders are hosted by India. Few years back, Modi was rolling red carpet for Xi and offering him tea, but literally at the same time PLA moved into Indian claim lands. Now we got American leaders going to India (I think John Kerry still there), and you got American Navy giving two finger salute to host India.
