Considering that the 8 F-16s were to be used for COIN operations, surely the JF-17 can do that job much better at lower cost, even it its present form, let alone further development.

With regards to COIN in Pakistan these limitations mean nothing. And the range is being extended with IFR.

dude by all kind of terrorism I means employment of BVRs, deep strike missions, surveillance and performing ground support duties for PA in case of some terrorism from east...
and no! PAF isn't satisfies with WMD-7 targeting pod! but taking care of TTP isn't even an issue in presence of Burraq UCAV, already F-16s in inventory and Cobras & Mil-35 are also comming!
