LAHORE: The former Vice Chief of Air Staff and founder of Pakistani aircraft JF-17 Thunder, Shahid Lateef, while addressing a seminar on Pakistans problems and their solutions, at Tech Club divulged that vital information about Pakistans nuclear assets had been provided to US under the cover of security trainings.
He stated that the incidences like Abbottabad operation, attack on GHQ and Mehran base were planned just to take over Pakistans nuclear assets. America coined JF-17 Thunder aircraft project a paper project but we successfully completed it within a record time of two and half years with a 15-member team as compared to Indians Light Combat Aircraft project that was not completed in 15 years with the help of 80 institutions, he added.
Lateef said that the judiciary should ensure implementation of NRO verdict through army, otherwise people will have to come to the streets in the name of revolution. He said that the present democratic government had failed to deliver in the last four years and asked public to stop waiting for miracles and make sincere efforts to safeguard Pakistan. He also mentioned that the present elections structure is corrupt and elections held under the present system will result again in a corrupt and failed government.
Pakistan should strengthen relations with China instead of depending on US, who had never been a reliable companion, and should portray its image as a peaceful, he stressed. According to him Pakistan has already wasted its precious hard-earned foreign reserves for the purchase of expensive nuts and bolts of military equipments bought under compulsion from US and western powers on their terms and conditions. Pakistan now needs to adopt the strategy of reducing land forces and increase the air power capability as being practiced by the other countries of the world, he opined.
Tech Club President Zubair Sheikh, in his welcome note mentioned that the American ambassador had said that Pakistans JF-17 Thunder aircraft project was more dangerous than atom bomb and they made utmost efforts to roll back this project. In the end Tech Society President, Dr Muhammad Sadiq, thanked the guest speakers, Engineers, Doctors and Professors who participated in the seminar
