US defence secretary-elect terms Pakistan 'essential partner'

someone should have asked him about Indians killing their own innocent army soldiers to escalate tension in region like pulwama and uri attacks where indian agency Raw killed own soldiers to blame on Pakistan.

Pakistan needs to be straight forward with these americans. WTF they didnt mentioned indian terrorism in region?

Nelson Mandela gave this brilliant answer to a journalist.

A good lesson for those who think that every nation should align their thoughts with them.

India asking everyone to see Pakistan the way it sees it or vice versa doesn’t t really work like that. It is sustained hard diplomacy over many years that can bring some good results. Based on one Arnabgate everyone asking and hoping that entire world to brand India a terrorist state is too far fetched.

It is unlikely that US will start name calling India as per Pakistan’s assessment and desires. Biden government has quite a few officials with a fairly favourable stance towards India. Hence, it is unlikely that Biden will not continue to strengthen its ties further with India.

It’s policy towards Pakistan should emerge in some time.

Highlighted section above is the most important one in my view.

Unlike the Trump administration that gave India a green light to do what it wanted, not expecting a Pakistani response, the incoming SoD appears to recognize that actions such as the military escalation by India (Balakot) are dangerous, counterproductive and need to be prevented.

For Pakistani policy makers, perhaps a lesson that controlled escalation in response to provocations from India, Afghanistan or Iran can be a useful tool to help apply pressure to prevent such provocations going forward.

there is a lot out in the public about this pulwama stunt and is enough for the sake of its lies.

US govt is coming to us for their own benefit but they have to listen to us. it all depends upon how we take this development, we need to stand our ground, don't sell cheap because damage is already done to the relationship and we are living with it.

the priority should be trade, sanctions removed and not the military goodies with what they always play with us, we have to shed this approach from our minds and from US thinking that they can force us with. it is US who is to work for us, FATF, earliest we must get rid of it, open markets, FDI etc.

any development must be free of Indian influence is the first condition to put forward on the table and rest will be fine.

usa can't get you Kashmir period neither can China. nobody can.

you can't reshape usa long term.strategic interests,of containing China and they want India on board with the quad. usa are pulling India into their sphere and India seeing Russian demise have obliged.

I don't know how I can get this across. Try fiddling with the F16 the same way as you fiddle with mirages!

If we can get F-16s and just use them anyway we can that is fine, no need to fiddle, Pakistan has an excellent record of maintaining the security of the tech in the aircraft (this programme has actually been praised by US), so there is an element of trust there between PAF and USAF. Can we use them to defend Pakistan properly? Feb 27th was your answer for that...

I have failed to get my point across.

General Lloyd Austin lauds the country's steps for Afghan peace process; vows to deter 'regional actors'

WASHINGTON:
US defence secretary-elect former General Lloyd Austin on Wednesday termed Pakistan 'an essential partner' in the Afghan peace process, saying he will deter regional actors from spoiling the peace of the region, in an apparent reference to arch-rivals India.

"Pakistan is an essential partner in any peace process in Afghanistan," Gen Austin said while responding to a question regarding his policy as the top defence official of the country.

He added, "If confirmed, I will encourage a regional approach that garners support from neighbors like Pakistan, while also deterring regional actors, from serving as spoilers to the Afghanistan peace process."
“Pakistan will play an important role in any political settlement in Afghanistan.”

Lauding Pakistan's role in the regional peace process, Gen Austin said, "I understand Pakistan has taken constructive steps to meet US requests in support of the Afghanistan peace process. Pakistan has also taken steps against anti-Indian groups, such as Lashkar-e-Tayyiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed, although this progress is incomplete."

He noted that "many factors in addition to the security assistance suspension may impact Pakistan’s cooperation, including Afghanistan negotiations and the dangerous escalation following the Pulwama attack."

The former US Central Command commander added that he would focus on shared interests between Washington and Islamabad “which include training future Pakistan military leaders through the use of International Military Education and Training funds”.

Trump had suspended Pakistan participation in the IMET program in August 2018. The US administration later resumed the facility afforded to military officers from Pakistan in December 2019.
IMET affords spaces to foreign military officers at US military education institutions, such as the US Army War College and the US Naval War College.

However, the former four-star general maintained that he “will press Pakistan” to prevent its territory from being used by militants or other violent organisations” and said he would continue to build relationships with Pakistani military to “provide openings for the United States and Pakistan to cooperate on key issues”.

On December 7, 2020, President-elect Joe Biden chose retired General Lloyd Austin, who oversaw U.S. forces in the Middle East under President Barack Obama, to be his defense secretary.

We don't believe you Mr Secretary. USA is a nation of liars.

Such kind of authoritarian posts can only get you some likes & followers on RSS BJP Social Media groups but not here. Nobody is expecting miracles and your red status for now is not because of this post but many before in this same thread for low quality jibes and worst kind of sarcasm.

Now coming to the Joe Biden presidency and Pakistan's relationship with US..... in short,

We are expecting NADA. Did you get it... Zero and there is no celebration like how Indian went to worship Trump and now Kamala Harris. Don't open the box which may end up in embarrassment. Remember those Pooja/Worshipping the Trump and say what happened. Majority Pakistanis doesn't expect anything greater from US given the level of relations and I personally think that Joe Biden company will ask for do-more as usual and Pakistan is already used to it not by way of avoiding but it is different this time. F-16s or any other item does have CENTCOM/USAF/LM involvement so Military relations are vital for such purchase contrary to those fraandly rants.

A boxed mentality and tunnel vision is not going to see it and I am happy in this way so that the rival may remain blind. Pay attention to what the US official repeated for many a times..... Afghanistan. Read between the lines and understand that what Biden setup has in store for those who try to sabotage Afghanistan Peace or pose any threat to Pakistan Afghanistan by way of proxies. Using internet to blame Pakistan for so-called proxy is not going to work anymore. It is now time for Doval to be at receiving end.

I repeat.... Biden is all about do more may be in different style and tone hence, expect no more. But this time, its way different and there is no more unless more for us.

The US has to decide if it wants to end its war with Islam and focus on China or not. It also has to decide if it will be part of the green technology revolution or remain to be an impediment to it (like Trump who tried his best to restore the petro-economy instead of moving quickly away from it).

Who ever wins the green race will rule this century. What will happen if someone discovers a way to increase solar panel efficiency from 30% to 90%. We are just one innovation away!

Or if someone discovers a way to revolutionize the battery storage efficiency - again we are also just one innovation away. The US is still in the best position to get these innovations first but others (China, EU, etc.) are not far behind.

There can be no end to war against Islam unless the fires in the Muslim world are put out. This requires putting pressure on the Gulf Arabs. Furthermore, if the war in Afghanistan has to end, a resolution to the Kashmiri problem is a must. Otherwise, the US will remain bogged down in Afghanistan. This is just a reality.

Okay, so what is your backup plan?

JF-17 Block III. Seriously?!!

Even if you were resting on its laurels, there is NO B3 at the moment and it'll be a while before a few even make their mark on a Squadron.

So again, what's your backup plan when you're being charged against Rafales, Su-30's & Mirage-2000's?

You do know the F-16's we got off Jordan aren't restricted to the End-User Agreement.

If you've got a logical solution to our problem, do speak up with a valid answer.
J20s , J10s, J20s there are plenty of options out there
You talk so much utter rubbish, it's like you crap out of your mouth.

Indian Americans in the Dem party have been some of India's toughest crtics, especially on Kashmir and human rights.

I now you seem desperate to paint every development as good for India but time to wake up and smell the coffee. CAATSA on the way, Kashmir issue a big one for Dems and a US President who knows Pakistan very well and sponsored a Pro Pakistan aid bill. A US Sec Def who has great relations with senior Pak Mil

Of course US will act in it's interests but Dems have no love for BJP, that is a certain. Think everyone forget this easily?

You mean a US sec of defence who is smart to control PA?

Excellent interview. Watched all of it. Moeed is maybe the best or second best (after Reza Baqir) appointment by Imran Khan. Absolutely brilliant answers to some very tough questions not so much from Kugelman as the questions that were sent in. Reiterates my point earliar that this is not the Pakistan of 2016 and we won’t be treated like that. We don’t want military bases want economic bases etc.

Meanwhile thousands of Blackwater personnel have moved into Afghanistan and Middle East. "Essential Partner" my arse. They are about to impose a new war.
