why?........ why should you work and spill the blood of your own people for somone else. have you not done that enough already?

same question I ask of our UK governments whenever they open a new front in the middle east while the memories of repatriation ceremonies have not faded yet.

oh, to answer your question. if Pakistan is really hard pressed as the naysayer senator thinks, then it will try influence indirectly otherwise nothing changes for PAF as the offer was initially made by the USA and the PAF chief made a visit listing what exactly he was looking for if such deal was to materialize with or without the involvement of PAF in Yemen campaign.

re KSA... hats off to the stranglehold of its diplomacy over USA, UK and Pakistan it gets what it wants one way or another. we have resisted an all out participation for now but I wont be surprised if KSA also pulls some strings to bring us back on track. dont think our religious population will have any issue with our men loosing their lives for the house of Saud, you an I my dear can sod off.

1. in the end money talks and bi@ches walk. large companies are only interested in money and thats it. the saudis are the largest buyer so they have the a huge amount of unfluence here in the uk.

This is where you grossly underestimate Pakistan's abilities!! If this deal's cancelled, the US aid and other "goodies" will be cancelled following this. Your country will take a loss. Emotional fools don't take more than a second to run their brains without knowing the consequences!!

The SAME Indian lobby who is behind this, will work her magic on Russians too. You guys aren't as influential that you'll make Russia sell you what the Indians will seriously object to!!

A MUCH smarter thing, is to lobby with the US congress, and get them to understand, so this damage is controlled before it goes too far and impact other things. Its foolish to think anyone can get ahead with their economy without the West, and US has a say in everything regarding the West. When you can make friends, and get what you want....why make enemies???

We're not interested in lobbying. We frankly don't require 8 F-16s. They aren't worth so much hassle. Pakistan has better options. Pakistan should instead pursue the better options.

The Su-35 on the other hand are indeed worth the hassle and so far Russia has shown willingness to sell them. That's all that matters. Even if the Russians don't at the end of the day, Pakistan still has other options at its disposal. I would say still much better options than buying 8 F-16s.

The last time I checked Pakistan US relations were reduced to embassy exchanges. US congressmen engage with Pakistan through their congress! If that is what you call "engaging" and "extracting" whatever you seek good luck with that.

1) This isn't any propaganda. The Congress did stop this and sent notice of sort of show cause to the Obama administration. Now the administration and some lobby from Pakistan can push it through. Nothing out of the ordinary.

3) You and other people don't get it. You guys have very narrow mentality. Really? 8 or 24 or 32 F-16's worth a few billion can change the American law makers sentiment? What world do you live in? Do you have any idea how many HUNDREDS of billions the US would make, if it opened up the sale of F-22 to its allies like Japan, the UK, Australia, etc???? Did we do that? HELL NO!!!! So what's a big deal for 20-40 F-16's? NONE, ZERO, ZILCH!!

If these F-16's are ever issued, these will be due to the relationship with Pakistan. Not the money. If you think "money" or a "few jobs" matter to the US government when it comes to her interests and strategy.....you are simply acting like a fool. The same F-16's can be purchased by a dozen other countries if the US really wanted to do it outside of Pakistan and REALLY needed a few jobs to remain working. No doubt PAF loves the F-16s , the performance of Block-52s has been beyond expectations, however PAF high command during a recent visit to Washington made it clear that if US goes about beating around the bush again then times have changed as PAF has other options.
This is not the nineties !
Also keep in mind the carry on with the Super Cobra gunships, which were eventually cleared for sale to PAF.
On a side note, if US wanted any restrictions on PAF F-16s, why would it supply with CFTs, and recently it has emerged that instead of the standard 500g drop tanks, US supplied PAF with special 600g tanks for the F-16s....so they could strike even deeper in enemy territory.... Amen to that!! Like I said, the US congress is doing her process thing. The legislators will have questions, Pakistan needs to lobby to provide answers and the Obama administration would do that too. If all goes well and the law makers hear what they need to, the deal is on.

Windy is right, why would the US provide more advanced equipment with the block 52, if it really wanted to end her relationship with Pakistan??? So you provide seriously sensitive technologies for use to an ally and put monitoring on it so the tech doesn't get stolen, but then cut the ties off? That's effing stupid IMO!!
