US Congress passes bill for free Wuhan virus testing and paid emergency leave

Note that they still don't want to cover the cost of medical care? yes free test but costly medical care, smells like some third-rate salesman's sweat deal

America government can inject hundreds of billions to stock market to save the rich top1 yet don't even want to cover the medical bill for the ones who get this virus?

There is something serious wrong in this country, in the US, the commoners life is pretty cheap.

On a side-note: The average cost of a critical condition patients (using ECMOs) is cost $60,000 to $120,000 in China, and Jiangsu Government even go as far as doing a complicated surgery to replacing one dying patient's lung completely to save him, ensuring there is still no death in the entire province, and all bills are covered by the government, regardless of what kind of health insurance plan you are at, they wont charge you one cent.

It's a VERY messed up health care system in America. Criminal, evil, and heartless! Even middle class people with insurance live in fear of getting really sick. There are people in America, even prominent politicians, who want to radically change the system but they are powerless against entrenched lobbies. Another angle is that many white Americans (mostly Republican oriented) think that 'the minorities' would get 'free healthcare' if 'the government' provides a universal healthcare system; never underestimate how many decisions are influenced by underlying racial conflicts in America!

PS. I had an endoscopy barely a few weeks ago. A simple procedure. It's good that I have a good insurance. But, boy, if you looked at the pre-insurance charges, one item was $9700+ plus a bunch of smaller but not insignificant items. Especially shocking was that the anesthesiologist added $200+ for some extra 12 minutes under anesthesia. In the end, I paid a manageable amount but if I didn't have the insurance...

@dbc : We may get much less in checks. Darn!

"
On Capitol Hill, Republicans presented a bill that would offer bridge loans of up to $10 million each to small businesses, extend hundreds of billions of dollars in loans to large corporations in distressed industries and send checks as large as $1,200 per adult to individuals earning less than $99,000 per year. The payments would phase in for earners up to $75,000 — meaning lower earners would get smaller checks — and then phase out again at $99,000. Those who did not earn enough to pay income tax would receive much less: $600.

The proposal is different from one pitched on Thursday by Steven Mnuchin, the Treasury secretary, who said the administration wanted to send two waves of $1,000 checks to every American, one in April and one in May should the crisis persist."
