US Congress Bans Trump from Declaring War on Iran

If you take a deep look into U.S. congresses track record against Iran you would see that this doesn't mean much of anything!

Iran needs to gear up for war and have it's retaliatory capability ready to respond to any aggression.

Iran's best strategy would be to threaten US allies as well as US bases in the region, they have the capability to cause significant damage to places such as Saudi Arabia or Camp Arifjan among others via their ballistic missiles such as Shahbab 3. Their fleet of MiG-29's could also launch a few bombing runs on less defended targets, and militant groups like Hezbollah and the Houthis could be used as proxies. They've also got a large number of anti air defences which can certainly inflict a few casualties on US aircraft.

Not to mention the deeply nationalistic population, which will no doubt wage an insurgency similar to Iraq's (if the US ever decides to go for an occupation).

You really want to give the Arab oil countries a reason to green light buying even more weapons and basing even more US troops there?

Some Excellent reporting by Richard Engle on the Mossad, Black cube and the MEK, I can't find the other 2 on youtube but it is on MSNBC's website

Here is the MSNBC site with the entire news story, including the one about the MEK getting huge sums of money/gold form Saudi Arabia. (You may have to sign in in order to view)

Sorry I can't include the link :(

Funny, what a farce that entire supposed mossad mission lol. Even listening to that guy Ron Bergman trying to tell the story it's pathetic beyond belief to the point where Richard Engle had to coach his answers for him.

That was the lousiest display of untruth from an organization that is so high on itself to the point where they've lost touch with reality and think we're all just as stupid as they are.

If a war breaks out, Iran has no other way of fighting back. Even if it means the Arabs getting more equipment afterwards and a larger American presence in the region, it would ensure they have some scars to remind them to not try such crap again.

lol, I'm on the fence about this covert op that Israel supposedly carried out in Tehran. It REALLY sounds like a B rated HollyWood thriller that just makes no sense. Secret spies, super-duper fortified areas, secret documents, blah blah blah blah. Call me a naysayer but man is it a hell of thing to believe.

If true than Iran is way more incompetent then I had previously thought, If it's a lie then Israel looks like a stupid child trying to over dramatize Iran's nuclear energy program. But nothing came out of this, only the US took it as face value since Trump was going to leave the JCPOA anyway. EU said nothing of value was released by this Israeli reveal, and the IAEA followed that any evidence must be submitted to them first for evaluation since they're "impartial" regarding this entire BS scenario.

We just have to wait and see really. The US has taken a very hawkish stance on Iran with its newest set of demands that were designed not to be met by Iran leading to an escalation in tensions. US is quite literally playing a game of chicken with Iran at this stage. Question is can Iran outlast this US administration?

Well, I doubt the Mossad did the job, I hate to say it but it was most likely done by MEK Iranians. I have nothing but contempt for those turncoats. I bet they know that they have less than a zero chance to ever rule Iran but they keep up the appearances so they can get money from UAE and S.A. Anyway, the second and third segment in the news clip above are the most interesting...he talks to an actual ex MEK member.

I'm totally against another war in the region especially with Iran because are neighbours and we don't want instability and Iran is much more powerful than Afghanistan and Syria.
Said that, I visited news sites of half a dozen main stream channels i.e. CNN, BBC, RT, Ajazeera, Pakistani newspapers and none is reporting this news. Until an independent news source confirms, I guess it is a rumour.
Apparently Zionist's media didn't like to reflect this news that much, so U.S house representative has to serve you personally!

U.S. House Makes Clear That There is No Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Iran
May 24, 2018
Press Release
A bipartisan amendment introduced by Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN) and cosponsored by Reps. Barbara Lee (D-CA), Ro Khanna (D-CA), Jan Schakowsky (D-IL), Jim McGovern (D-MA) and Walter Jones (R-NC) passed the U.S. House as part of the National Defense Authorization Act of 2019

WASHINGTON —On Tuesday night, the House unanimously passed an amendment making clear Congress’s position that no law exists which gives the President power to launch a military strike against Iran. Today, that amendment passed the U.S. House as part of the National Defense Authorization Act of 2019.

“The unanimous passage of this bipartisan amendment is a strong and timely counter to the Trump administration’s withdrawal from the Iran deal and its increasingly hostile rhetoric,” Rep. Ellison said. “This amendment sends a powerful message that the American people and Members of Congress do not want a war with Iran. Today, Congress acted to reclaim its authority over the use of military force.”

“I am pleased with the inclusion of this amendment, which clarifies that the President does not have the authority to go to war with Iran,” said Congresswoman Lee. “Just weeks after President Trump shamefully pulled out of the Iran Deal, it is more important than ever to ensure diplomacy with Iran and in the region. I am proud to be a cosponsor of this important amendment and will do everything in my power to ensure we do not go to war with Iran.”

“The War Powers Act and Constitution is clear that our country’s military action must first always be authorized by Congress. A war with Iran would be unconstitutional and costly. The unanimous passage of Rep. Ellison’s amendment sends a strong message to Secretary Pompeo, National Security Advisor Bolton, and the Trump administration that Congress has the power to decide issues of war and peace,” said Rep. Khanna.

“This amendment’s historic passage affirms the fact that the American people do not want to go to war with Iran. Following the President’s misguided withdrawal from the JCPOA, the House of Representatives sent a clear message by passing this amendment unanimously: unauthorized war with Iran is not an option. The President must listen to the American people and return to diplomacy as the primary solution to Iran’s nuclear ambitions,” said Rep. Schakowsky.

“Congress is sending a clear message that President Trump does not have the authority to go to war with Iran,” Rep. McGovern said. “With President Trump’s reckless violation of the Iran Deal and failure to get Congressional approval for military strikes on Syria, there’s never been a more important time for Congress to reassert its authority. It’s long past time to end the White House’s blank check on war and the passage of this amendment is a strong start.”

So this is real then?

So this is real then?

seems so.. nobody can hack what you read on an https .gov server, at least not for more than a few hours.

besides, there are plenty of arguments against getting NATO into another major regional war, let alone 2. (North-Korea, for which the US has also put that threat clearly on the table).

be glad Congress reigned in the Trump administration on this one..

this is the second major hurdle for the Trump administration to go to war soon.

the first would be the reluctance of large parts of the NATO citizenry and government leaders to engage in another major regional war that can be avoided or put on hold with exactly the same kind of negotiations that previous US administrations performed.

personally, i am ambivalent towards regime-change on Iran by NATO.
the Iranian leaderships have called what they're doing in Yemen and elsewhere outside their borders a 'right'.
that makes them valid targets for regime-change in my eyes, along of course with the many voices inside Iran that are indeed openly very hostile towards Israel, who support the cannonfodder policy of supplying the Palestinians with weapons, etc, etc.

and now they're cracking down on protesters who complain about how Iranian leaderships' policies are creating more havoc for the Iranian economy.

please note that this ammendment is for the *2019* defense budget. it doesn't say anything about the 2020 defense budgets and beyond, and that happens to be about as long as the US Trump Administration would need to mobilize international opinions against Iran's persistent "behavior".

means nothing , he still can start what they call limited military intervention for 90 day .
the senate only wanted to say we are not responsible for trumps action.
they just want to have better sleep at nights .

you can't do a regime-change within 90 days. nor anything else of military or political value, in this case, currently.

and i really suspect there will be a serious shit-storm heading Trump's way in center and left-wing US mass-media if he decides to go against Congress.

What do u mean by almost?

Iran geo-strategically has all the ingredients necessary for a long long war if anyone decides to invade it.
It has natural barriers and thus is pretty well protected. Reminds me of a story 1500 years old

Who will win? Qaiser or Qisra

So i guess it never changes the scenario but nobody has the economic means to wage an invasion which could very well last decades.
