The United States (US) has failed to find partners in its bid to put Pakistan on the global terror financing watch-list during an ongoing conference in Paris.

The six-day conference of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) continues in the French capital. The meeting was due to vote on a US motion to put Pakistan on the global terror watch-list.

But, Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif said early on Wednesday that the US has failed in its bid against Pakistan.

In a tweet, Asif has said that Pakistan’s efforts have paid off, and the Paris conference has deferred voting for three months.

He said that there was ‘no consensus on nominating Pakistan for the list’ and that he was ‘grateful to the friends who helped’ in the process.

Asif also says that the Financial Action Task Force has asked Asia Pacific Group on Money Laundering to submit another report in June 2018.

Adviser to Prime Minister on Finance Dr Miftah Ismail has been in Paris to plead Pakistan’s case at the ongoing session.

Ismail left for Paris at the weekend to attend the FATF meetings, said officials of the Finance Ministry. The decision to send the adviser was taken abruptly

yeah for this we have to completely move toward centralized IT sector which should be integrated with our institutions. For example there can be budget management system so the commom man can also watch online that where the budget is being spent. What have we done to give US a snub? Oh right we put them in the list of friendly countries who can get visa on arrival. I mean seriously when are we going to learn that US is not a friend but a very determined foe who is willing to go to any extend to undermine Pakistan's interests. When are we going to start acting proactively rather than reactionary to US moves?
This bid hasnt been dismissed it has only be deferred and maybe that is what this government wanted because it did not wanted to have this feather in their cap before elections. If Pakistan FO had done their homework properly it should had been dismissed altogether and not deferred. So for one I am not too much excited about it. The threat is only postponed not neutralized.
Secondly why are we not raising the cost for the US? Sometimes a best defense to be on the offense. Why are we allowing US moves to go without repercussions? The least we can go is to make tough for them to get supplies in Afghanistan or put additional taxes on routes.
So far they have threaten us, withheld money, now this and our response against these moves have been what? nothing. Which is why we are encouraging our enemy to continue taking such actions because they know there are no repercussions.
