KABUL (PAN): Senate Chairman Fazal Hadi Muslimyar on Thursday alleged US troops had paved the ground for Pakistani forces to advance 40 kilometres into eastern Afghanistan under "a secret deal".

Muslimyar, who returned a day earlier from a visit to the Goshta district in eastern Nangarhar province, told reporters in Kabul the Americans had asked Afghans around nine years ago to allow the Pakistanis to conduct operations against insurgents in the area.

Quoting tribal elders and residents, the Senate chairman said there had been a clash between Goshta residents and Pakistani troops who first attempted to enter the area.

Afghan and Pakistani forces suffered casualties after the two sides clashed for a second time in less than a week on Monday over the reconstruction of a security gate that was razed in the previous skirmish.

Muslimyar said they had visited villages lying close the Durand Line and talked to residents there. He said after the clash between Goshta residents and Pakistani forces, the US troops intervened and asked residents to allow the Pakistanis to conduct operations against terrorists.

Under the pretext of military action against insurgents, the Pakistanis installed constructed installations 40 kilometers inside Afghanistan, he claimed, asking the government to enter talks with the US on the question.

He warned if the talks did not produce any results, lawmakers and the people would act unilaterally to defend their motherland.

"The US and NATO have cut secret deals with Pakistan over the Durand Line issue. The US should not sell out our land and should respect Afghanistan’s sovereignty," he demanded.

Muslimyar said the US had to defend Afghanistan's borders under the strategic partnership agreement between the allies. Pakistan should not be allowed to establish military posts inside Afghanistan, he continued.

"The Durand Line is not acceptable to us and we will never recognise it," he said, asking the US to resolve the issue with Pakistan before signing a bilateral security agreement with Afghanistan.

Kabul—Afghan senate has urged United States to assist Afghanistan in removing Pakistani military check posts created in Goshta district of eastern Nangarhar province.

Chairman of the Afghan senate said Washington’s demand to keep military bases in Afghanistan beyond 2014 will not be accepted unless United States does not act in accordance with the national interests of Afghanistan.

This comes as Afghan president Hamid Karzai on Thursday said that Washington wants to keep nine military bases across the country after NATO combat troops leave Afghanistan in 2014.

Fazal-ul-Hadi Muslimyar, chairman of the Afghan senate house told reporters that US and NATO troops have handed over military check posts to Pakistani military in Goshta district.

Local residents in Goshta district quoted by Fazal-ul-Hadi Muslimyar have said that Pakistani troops have moved 40km inside the Afghan soil after NATO and US troops handed over military check posts in Goshta district.

Chairman of the Afghan senate house last week also visited eastern Nangarhar province to inspect border issues in Goshta district and recent demonstrations against the provincial governor of Nangarhar.

Afghan officials alleged that Pakistani military forces have carried out attacks on Afghan security forces for two times after the military check posts and installations were handed over to them.—INP

Afghan Forces Lack Equipments to Defend Borders

Afghan National Security Advisor for President Karzai on Saturday said that security forces face shortage of equipment to defend the borders.

Afghan National Security Advisor for President Karzia Dr Rangin Dadfar Spanta while visiting Goshta district, said that several options are at hand to equip Afghan security forces and the government cannot wait for support from international community in this regard.

It is time for Afghan forces to be equipped like the forces of some neighbouring countries, Dr Spanta said.

"We cannot wait for international community. We are thankful to international community. They have supported us a lot but current equipment are not enough to defend the country's borders. We are working on all options to equip our forces," Dr Spanta said.

Meanwhile, Afghan Border Police (ABP) in Goshta District of eastern Nangarhar province said that they are on standby in the last several days.

Afghan Government has deployed additional army forces to the area to back border police.

Afghan border police who have exchanged fire twice with the Pakistani military in the past two weeks, are saying that they face lack of military resources and equipment.

"Pakistani military owns tanks and artilleries but we have only mortars and 82 mm artillery, in spite of this we are ready to fight against Pakistan," Afghan Border Police Anbia Khan Momand said.

"We have engaged with them twice so far. If clashes break out one more time, I will destroy all their check posts," Afghan Border Police Imran said.

It is said that Pakistan military have built check posts across Durand Line on Afghanistan soil.

"According to Durand Line map which is given us by Isaf, their check posts have been built on this side of the line. They should be on that side until the problem is solved," Dr Spanta said.

It seems that Afghan forces possess strong support of the people. A group of women from Jalalabad city have come to praise forces' performance in Goshta district.

Sanga Jabarkhil, one of the women who visited Goshta district, said she was there to praise the bravery of the Afghan security forces.

Another woman Khosh Noma said "We, around 200 women, came to raise the morale of our forces as like Malalai gave moral to the soldiers in Maiwand war."

Afghan forces in Goshta district are on standby to respond to threats from the other side of the border. Pakistan has also deployed tanks against Afghan forces.

Why do these random bozos keep jumping once in a while with some conspiracy theory? Do they even realize that Pakistan is a far stronger neighbor and a neighbor that they need?

It is so funny that west has resolved majority of their border battles over the last century and are now just sitting on the sidelines watching Asia engulfed by the same story of border battles being played out... We got to kill these opportunistic politicians, learn to resolve our conflicts peacefully among ourselves and throw out the US and we will see peace will come back (Obviously this does also mean that the definition of terrorism is consistently applied across Asia)
