U.S., South Korea Agree -- U.S. Needs To Take Command In War

U.S., South Korea Agree -- U.S. Needs To Take Command In War - Forbes

Forget about South Korean generals leading the heroic defense of their country against invading North Koreans, Chinese or anyone else. After all the talk for years about transferring “operational control” in time of war to the South Koreans, the Americans will be in command.
Incredibly, that decision is not at the behest of South Korea’s ally, the United States, but the result of the view of South Korea’s defense ministry that their forces just don’t have the sophistication and resources to take charge in case of a second Korean War. The axe fell on what had come to be known as OPCON in annual meetings in Washington this week between the U.S. and South Korean defense chiefs.

I dont know whether to post this here or in the Team USA thread.

Because that worked so well during the last Korean War.

If they had not ignored China's warnings not to approach the Yalu River, then North Korea might not even exist today. Before the Chinese intervention, the USA + 16 of her allies had pretty much taken the entirety of North Korea.

After the Chinese intervention, it ended up being the longest retreat in the history of the US armed forces. And half a century later, North Korea and the Fat Kims are still here bothering people.

But what do you think is the main reason for South Korea's decision?

Is it because the SK leaders are still not feeling confident in themselves?

Or is it because they are expecting a high probability of a military conflict that is beyond their capability?

Or are there other reasons?

Don't is make sense? :guns:

Huh? what are you saying?

Maybe it was never really their choice to begin with.

One of the downsides of giving up their sovereignty to America.

if MacArthur had gotten his way PRC would of be the second country to ever be nuked, and just how many Chinese that could of saved from "the Great Leap Forward" we'll never know.

are you proud of your backwards friend NK??? was it worth the PVA to die for them??

as for the U.S taking command when the war happens is the logical decision.

What you're proud of nuking civilian cities now? Like you did to Japan?

.
in hindsight if Truman and MacArthur knew how it would all turn out with the countless deaths by the PRC between the 50's to the 70's in China and how NK turned out nuking the PVA,NK, and even Beijing would of been the best move.

Advocating mass murder via nuclear weapons under the anonymity of the internet, how brave.

But no one on the internet is actually anonymous.

for the better good it would of been the right choice :usflag: now we got a nuclear armed NK that is runned by a fat pychopath who could at any moment order war or worse nuke Seoul and Tokyo.

:omghaha:
Hey, man. Why do you install such familiar logic? A distortion to another. A misleading thing to another.

Why do you show your language skills by using this kind of low tricks? Do you think US really lost command control in war time after Korea War?

You are really a wise man knew everything for everything had happened.:D

I think we all know when shtf the U.S would take control on commanding Korea/U.S forces, but maybe making this statement is to send a message to NK and Un?

To be honest, I don't care.
We all know US has plenty of experiences to lead various armed forces include the most tough one no matter whether you admit it.
