KARACHI (March 07 2010): A delegation of tribal parliamentarians refused to go through scanner at Washington Airport and are coming back to Pakistan in protest, Aaj News reported. According to the channel, a six-man delegation was visiting the United States on the invitation of US State Department. The delegation included Sajid Hussain Toori, Abbas Afridi, Hafiz Muhammad Rasheed, Akhundzada Chattan, Kamran Khan and Jawad Khan, the channel added.

LAHORE: A six-member delegation of the National Assembly and Senate returned to Pakistan in protest after refusing a body scan at the Dulles International Airport, located 40 kilometres west of Washington, a private TV channel reported on Saturday.

Talking to the channel, head of the delegation Senator Abbas Khan Afridi said they were asked for a body-scan but they refused, as they considered it an insult to parliamentarians of a sovereign country. He said they were informed before their arrival in the US that they would not face any such discrimination during their visit. The delegation had reached the US on February 28 for a 15-day visit.

Yes, ofcourse. If they disagree with US lawcode, they have the freedom to leave and thatz the way it should be. But I was wondering, didnt they know about the high security alert and tharough scanning in US? they could've avoided a trip.

FATA members did not travel to US on official visit: NA

According to Sources of National Assembly, the Parliamentary delegation comprised on members Parliament of FATA did not go to the United States on an official visit.
Sources of Assembly told that the visit of FATA members was arranged by US Aid and US embassy and they could tell better about matters related to screening.
Meanwhile, sources of the United States said that the routine checking of these members was carried out and the process of screening was not carried out.
The NA members of FATA have decided to raise the issue in the next session of the National Assembly.
The FATA members Parliament while talking to media after their arrival said that they gone to the United States on the visit of US State Department but they cancelled their visit in protest as they were asked for screening.
Senator Abbas Afridi who led the delegation told that the visit started from February 28 and they spent 6 days in Washington and held important meetings with high US officials.
He said that they were asked for screening when they left Washington to another state, adding they were assured that screening would not be carried out.

Unofficial visit, now they want to confuse the people and considered it an insult to parliamentarians of a sovereign country.

xebex...dear if that foreign tomorrow says all women would be checked by male security as per their law would a Indian or Pakistani woman go through such process? I leave it you..

The only way we can humiliate these rats is when on daily basis they enter embassies/diplomatic enclave in Islamabad they are regularly on entering and going out scanned with the same scanners even if it's ambassadors..better let ISI do it lol..

Great! The MPs do not have to go to US anyway. If we need to talk telephone and video conferencing is fine. If in person meetings are required then the US delegation can come to Pakistan.
