Thank you for clarification .I think this post marked on the election day is creating expected controversy..No votes are allowed to be cast past election day deadlines, they have to be postmarked by election day or before it. It takes long to deliver them because there is a record number of mail in votes because people don't want to vote in person due to Coronavirus. Some states are allowed to count the mail in votes earlier while others aren't because Republicans voted against allowing them to be counted early so they can claim fraud later on as they knew Trump would lose. It always take days every election for some states to count votes by the way. The reason previous elections called on the same night is because they can make projections but they don't actually finish counting them.
Also military overseas can vote, and we are still waiting for their ballots to arrive to Georgia, about 8,000 of them are being counted today I believe.
But, all votes have to be submitted by election day or postmarked(mail votes) by election day. Nothing is allowed after that. However, because it takes awhile to deliver the mail votes the states allow more time to count them. And because it's a longer process to tabulate them.
