Because there's no way you can survive after that much of an exposure. People who are directly exposed to U are considered dead from the second they are exposed. Death is rapid, painful and in most cases unavoidable.

The only method available to save a life in much lower exposures is to do massive amounts of blood transfusions and transplants of this n that.

Nothing in the papers except for what is said in the first article tells me the scientists are even considering this drug as an anti-nuclear attack defence.

This is good work by scientist.. Already many ancient medicinal compounds have been lost..
We even had medicine for AIDS in the past called as "MEGA NOI" in tamil.. But the medicinal compound formula is lost.. There are many groups still actively involved in finding scriptures about it and also about "sanjeevani" herb compound..
