UN Security Council (P5) Unspoken Superpower Requirements

Interesting most advanced, developed blah blah then Singapore should be also in UN sec permanent member.India is having highest electricity producer, consumer ,highest oil consumer, highest military power even though a major arms importer, highest gdp ppp, even though gdp nominal matters, highest contributor for UN peace keeping force, highest kee producer sectors like cement, coal, steel(will overtake japan by 2016) etc, highest of many agricultural products, highest gdp growth rate, highest overseas population than Germany or Japan.Buddy too much chest thumping....

Quality of debate isn't high here yet barring of a few posters. so, i guess they keep him as bait. Damn I fell for it.

On topic : Security Council seat is a long way but India has to lay a claim for it. Without VETO it is just decorative. However I am of the opinion that No nation or a group of Nations will let go or divulge such a power of UNSC permanent seat unless a major global shake up happens. We are a part of the post WW2 world order, and it will remain so for some time. There is no alternative to this the scope of power reorganization unless that happens, needs a deeper understanding of the Westphalian peace, that is the cornerstone of the present world order. Henry Kissinger's World Order & Diplomacy offers great brutal insights.

BTW USA is the only super power currently and it will stay that way for a long long time. Unless some Dolt becomes US president. The UN in my view has been (more or less) a useless tool.
Agreed.
And we will be offered that permanent seat when we need it the least  ... that too without veto.

India? :omghaha:

3 requirements for any member of P5, simples:

1. Historically independent superpower (either regional or worldwide)

China - the Middle Kingdom: Qin, Han, Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming, Qing

US: 20th century

UK: 17th-18th-19th-20th century: industrial revolution...

France:17th-18th-19th-20th century: Napoleon...

Russia: 17th-18th-19th-20th century: Tsars...the Soviets

Independent superpower means: regional/global tenological superpower, at least a regional military superpower, single independent kingdom/nation/country with strong nationalism, large territory*, (relatively) large population.

(*France and the UK proper are small, but each of them used to have a huge overseas empire prior to WW2)

2. independent allied regional superpower at the time of WW2.

The US, the UK and China were the original P3 of the UN - allied powers.

Russia and France joined soon after the WW2.

The US aside, all of them were amongst the strongest Eurasia powers at WW2.

China's contribution to WW2 is largely underestimated by the currect cold-war-oriented Western media, but not at a time of the war though. The entire allied powers reckoned that China was the main power resisting Japanese aggressions in the Eastern Eurasia for the most part of WW2.

3. current regional/global superpower

Amongst top economical, technological and militarily the most powerful in the world.

Economial: GDP size, a key position in the global manufactoring value chains, a top position on world-wide import & export, with a strong and widely used currency in global trade and finance.

Technolgical: independently-owned high tech knowhow (not accquired by importing) reflected by total sum of WIPO patents worldwide, with fundamental science researches amongst world-leading powers, with independent (or key-role of a team) manned space launches, a top position in all major industries in the world, a key source of world's technological goods import...

Militarily: able to manufacture indepedently, whenever required, most if not all of basic and advanced weaponaries (advanced Aegis destroyers or the equivalents, >= 4 gen warplanes HELOs, new gen army tanks, aircaft carriers etc with all the key subsystems such as electronics, radars, and missiles... thermonuclear weapons, ICBM, SSBN...), amonst world's leading export powers,

Japan and Germany don't fit into Requirement 1 for the most part, and definitely not Requirement 2.

India
doesn't fit in all 1 , 2 and 3.

Needless to say that ALL P5 members were originated, and are located, in the high altitude northern hemisphere, with average IQ of the populations = or > 100.

India? not then, not now, not even in 57th century.

I think at least any country from Africa should be the permanent sec council member, because as per butthurt above theory, humans are really derived from Africa :omghaha::omghaha::omghaha:

At the beginning of the 18th century India's share of the world economy was 23%, as large as all of Europe put together.

Bacterias should get a seat as well, cuz all living things are really derived from them? :omghaha:

At the beginning of the 18th century India's share of the world economy was 23%, as large as all of Europe put together.

this is a manufactured propaganda line made by western liberals and used in "shining India".

1) in the 18th century , there was no 'India", which was merely a regional term. if that can be used as a reason, Middle East or South America could even be richer. Western Europe definately was.

2) plus, that 23% is pulled out of ar$e. the original historian economists have no much clue but purely base their figures on many wild assumptions.

Needless to say that ALL P5 members were originated, and are located, in the high altitude northern hemisphere.

Yes, Chinese people are said to have originated from Zhongyuan, around the Yellow river region in Northern China.

But they often migrated south due to the collapse of various dynasties. My ancestors were Hakka, like other Southern Chinese they originated in Northern China but migrated south due to the collapse of the Tang and Song dynasties in particular.

One of the very few sane post's i've seen on the subject by an Indian.. Except for the highlighted part, I'd say it's not a long way but no way.. Like you mentioned unless something cataclysmic happens the status quo will remain

Rest are just arguing for the sake of it.. Highlighting India's apparent economic and business achievements that has no bearing whatsoever on this matter.. Bruised ego or unrealistic expectations probable reasons

Still more northern than "Zhongyuan, around the Yellow river region". Before going there, the ancestors of the Chinese have endured entreame cold climate envolving into the Mongoloid.

In 18th century india is termed as bharat streching from mountains from afghanistan to mountains in myanmar.Current pakistan and bangladesh was part of greater india.Even colombus discovered america why they named those he saw as Red Indian's, because india is famous for rich culture and trade and many westerners came to india for trade spices etc
Much early back indian kingdom empire strech even to indonesia and thailand.Westerners become rich only because of modern civilization and don't tell me that america was rich in 18th century as they have hardly much human beings.Buddy learn some history
