New Delhi, Apr 6: The UN today said it had not come across any case of sexual abuse by security forces in Jammu and Kashmir. "We have not received any report of sexual violence in Jammu and Kashmir. So far we do not have any reports about the issue," UN Secretary General's Special Representative on Sexual Violence in Conflict Margot Wallstrom said replying to a question.
Various separatists groups have been alleging incidents of sexual violence against women by security forces in the state. Asked whether UN would set up any mechanism to monitor incidents of sexual abuse in Jammu and Kashmir, she said there was no such proposal. However, she said the UN was in the process of setting up such a mechanism to monitor incidents of sexual violence in various African countries and in Columbia and Bosnia.
The UN official said she has been tasked by the UN Security Council to take steps to prevent sexual violence against women in conflict zones and the world body was taking a series of initiatives to address the issue. Wallstrom said the world body is "deeply concerned" about growing incidents of sexual violence against women in various conflict zones across the globe and was taking several initiatives to ensure safety of fair sex in the troubled areas.
look simple advice to Indians...FACE IT. if you think they are part of your country...take their problems as your own, being in denial of the crimes committed by indian army is not going to help you...
lol even the un is accepting there are not sexual abuse or violence on people by forces...now you face it,people of kashmir are better and are do not fear for bomb attacks
you asked for US to interfere but no use
now europe, lets see wat they will reply...
perhaps you can answer these question to validate your claim
so is it a published official report?
further more what machanism was adopted,
what team was involved in investigating the issue?
If you know the machanism that UN follows...
and by the way why UN's many units are not allowed to enter into indian occupied Kashmir?

can you tell me without any mechanism how can UN give this report??
Or UN is dumb???
Clearly if a UNO spokesperson released this statement to the media then it is the official position of the UNO. It will be recorded by a committee and passed as a resolution before such a media statement is made. The UNO unlike our politicians do not rush into making media statements to satisfy the cravings of a population hungry for crap and to elevate themselves in the eyes of their voters.
The spokesperson said that no reports of such incidents are before the UNO. Now despite the numerous (almost daily actually) claims by Pakistanis and their government to the effect that Indian troops and officials are molesting , murdering and raping women in J&K, would you not agree that at least one report would have been tabled before the UNO by Pakistan which is a member of the UNO pertaining to these allegations? If not, why not? Or is it simply that Pakistan and its people do not believe these claims themselves or worse still, have no evidence of these claims thus rendering such claims to the definition of a conspiracy theory. Or alternatively, does the various Pakistan governments over the years not deem the alleged scores of rape and abuse victims in J&K worth the trouble and time of Pakistan tabling a report before the UNO on these alleged crimes?
The mechanisim in investigating the issue? I certainly hope that the UNO engaged a better mechanism than Pakistan did in investigating the so called issue. The reason why I say this is simply because, once again, after allegedly investigating this issue and gathering evidence and coming to the conclusion that rape and molestation of women occurs in J&K, Pakistan did not deem it fit to table a report to the UN with the data gathered including their evidence proving that Indian security forces are guilty of these crimes and that the Indian government is complicit in these crimes against humanity.
Therefore, if these allegations are indeed true and women of J&K are indeed being tortured and molested by Indian troops you should ask yourself why your government has failed in its duty as a member of the international community by failing to submit its evidence of such atrocities to the UNO. In the alternative, you should ask yourself whether these allegations are no more than a conspiracy theory of bad evil Hindu majority nation wreaking havoc and destruction on some Muslim majority state of theirs. Either way the buck stops with Pakistan here
it seems she was in a hurry to give a media statement without coming up with any official documents supporting her claim, unlike your view about her media conference.
]I wish that Pakistan should also remove restriction on press in P O K cause we all know the reality of so called Azad Kashmir
Pity that you don't understand the workings of the UNO. I worked for the UNO for 3 years and I am quite familiar with their protocol. No yaar she definately wasn't in any hurry to release a statement. Media spokespeople at the UNO work under a certain protocol and it is highly unlikely that a scenario such as that posed by you would occure. If it did, it would cause an international stink. So in effect..we are just moving from a conspiracy theory in J&K onto a conspiracy theory in the UNO. Let's stop before this becomes any more ridiculous
