Ukraine to nationalize Motor Sich, An-225 Mriya engine maker

. .
Probably a smart move. You don't sell the blueprints of vital tech to any foreign entity.
It would be smart to hold on to key technologies like that...but industries like these need constant flow of money whether through orders for their domestic needs...or exports...or ideally both. This not only keeps the production lines churning but also draws upon, trains, and retains some of the brightest scientists and engineers...
...not to mention the most crucial part...which is that the profits can be used to further invest in R&D...improving their products...hence staying competitive in the world market.

If the influx of money dries up...production lines stop churning...skilled labor finds greener pastures elsewhere...
...little to no money to spend on R&D...and before long...the products u had to offer become dated and cannot compete with others.

Ukraine's economy has been struggling...and as of rn...any major source of revenue has to come from exports. If Ukraine can keep motor sich profitable...that would be great...if not...it will become a white elephant.

Capitalists engage in nationalisation of company and communists get pissed due to it, strange times to live in :D
If you think China is pissed then you got it wrong, just pay back the money and all is fine. For China 5 billion is nothing still it is cash. The one who should be pissed are Indians after receiving some heavy beating from the Chinese troops. Also being an American dog Indians have proven themselves lacking self respect, no wonder everybody is sheeeeeting on India by telling you guys to build more toilets instead of trolling.

To prevent Turkey getting engines from Ukraine I suppose. That why Pakistan would be forced to buy Z-10 from China instead of buy T129 from Turkey.

Z10 has been proved to be absolute Chinese garbage compared to the T129 in the high altitude high temperature tests in Baluchistan last year

No matter the relevance of this technology to China (I'm of the opinion that nothing serious was lost), China should see to it that Ukraine is punished for this. Certainly no further investments, and China should use its pull in multilateral institutions to ensure Ukraine is frozen out for this thuggish behaviour.

But if I'm being honest, this won't have the effect it should. Just as countries can get by under US sanctions by trading with China, Ukraine will get by under Chinese sanctions by trading with the West. Certainly it isn't as economically dependent on China as countries in East and Southeast Asia.

Man, it's frustrating being on this side of it. Nothing to be done but remember the insult and avenge it when the opportunity arises.

This comparison is fallacious. China is a superpower, Ukraine isn't. There is no presumption of equality.
It is not fallacious. We're talking about two corporations.

Let me ask you the same question, If AVIC was in the exact same situation as Motor Sich, do you think China would sell to a foreign nation? Keep in mind, both motor sich and avic hold major military technological secrets.

Motor Sich is on its death bed. AVIC is profitable. You are comparing apples and oranges. Motor Sich is a goner even if Ukrainian government nationalizes it.

Listen, can you not reply to me? I've asked you this before.

I have no interest in interacting with you. If you continue to do so, I will block you, simple as that.

probably not a smart move. China is it's only customer and China has better domestic engines. It's engines are now only being used on trainers and cargo planes where performance isn't a major requirement. In other words, China is interested in the production line not the technology. Without Chinese investment, Motor Sich would not have funds for R&D. It's products will eventually get so outdated that not even trainers and cargo planes will use it.

Yeah but now that Ukraine pissed of China China won't ever buy an engine from Ukraine ever again.

Still beating the old news? T129K sacrifice armour at expense of performance. You expect a 3 tons attack helo to have some alien armour that can withstand more than 7.62mm gun shot?

The new Z-10ME ,7tons refitted with new WZ-16 turboshaft with 1200kw power and we have proven many times with exercise even in kunlun mountain at attitude of 6000m.

Ukrainian technology is garbage compared to Chinese technology. In every field. In every sector.

They still make a lot of engines if you check their website. May be Pakistan should consult them to build an engine for ATAK helicopter.
