UK to unveil 6th generation fighter stealthier than F35 in 2021

Hardly a surprise that it will be stealthier than F-35, I would expect it to be even more stealthier than F-22.

Looking forward to the race between UK/Sweden/Italy and the USA as to who has the best fighter in the 2030s. USA may have more money and experience but Tempest is in with every chance with UK/Sweden/Italy putting their best efforts in.

I never said they'd surpass but the only country I'd bet on to make a decent 5+ or 6th gen fighter is France...they've managed to develop a world class fighter like the Rafale from scratch solely by French companies. While EFT, which is very well on par with the Rafale is still from a consortium making individual countries not on par with France

I also expect other EU countries like Germany would join down the lane since these projects typically seen several cost overruns and technical difficulties in developing 5th/6th gen tech. Regarding Tempest, I'm sure France would prioritize FCAS over Tempest

Rubbish. The UK built the EAP which is what the Eurofighter is based on, alone using all UK technologies and companies. That capability still remains.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Aerospace_EAP

We only HAD to go for a consortium to silly politics and wanting it to be a EU type of project. The ONLY reason why Dassault managed to make the Rafale is because they stole UK technology that we provided to the Eurofighter project and used it as the basis for their own plane...... The ONLY reason why Eurofighter never fully developed into the fighter it was meant to be was because of Germany and them pulling back funding and orders.. Guess what, Germany is now part of FCAS.. Ha ha ha !!! Good luck with that ....

The most significant military aerospace power in Europe is the UK..... we have full turn key capability for every aspect of a stealth fighter jet.

The meteor is a British AAM for god sake... dont confuse this consortium nonsense for where the technology was actually developed..

Tempest will fly before FCAS, and it will be alot lot better than FCAS.

The design was British based on a the prototype EAP made by British Aerospace, the engines are developed from the British XG-40 technology demonstrator, Leonardo (Italy) led the avionics, head mounted display British, the quadruplex FBW flight control system is from BAE, weapons MBDA and BAE etc. It's essentially British, and we have a colossal experience of making advanced jets. Aside the USA, the UK has the most chequered flight history for example the Sir Frank Whittle invented the jet engine.

Impressive. I am happy with this. I cannot wait to see this in the flesh soon.

The wing area looks a little bit larger than the farnborough model. Additionally, it seems they are going for 2D thrust vectoring engines. The nozzles also look stealthy.

The engine inlets seems to have gained a mini-dogtooth extension with a convex lip for the top of the inlet. Interesting. How long before others copy it.

Looks like the boys and girls are making a lot of progres with the airframe design and making decisions on how this beauty will look and function.

The only concern I have with Tempest is India joining it as a development partner, or purchasing it. Both fill me with dread ..
