UK ready to join CPEC: HC

Actually after Brexit and its looming diaster
How about calling it looming 'opportunity'? It is a choice whether one looks at a jar as half full or half empty. You forget British do very well across the world - don't forget they did rather well before EU in the form of empire. Brixit was not forced on them. They chose it and fought for it because they think and I agree they will do far better outside of EU. At least they don't have to dole out losers like Greeks, Poles and the other Eastern Europeans whose only qualification for membership and getting 'national welfare' was white skin and being Christians.

The better that this racist claptrap called EU is buried the better, I say !

. .
With Mr. Trump going for all-out isolation and China for globalization, what choices countries like UK have??? Better to harness old relationships - good or bad!!!!
I really hope Trump doesn't turn out to be a disaster. I have a feeling that he might just end up becoming a puppet of sorts.

When he was running for president there were major rifts between the Republican party and him. They only became buddies when he won. But now if he goes against their wishes as a president then since they are in the majority in the House and Senate, they will turn his presidency like they did to Obama during his last term(shut everything down that he initiates, veto all his bills, etc.). If he hopes to get anything done during his presidency it will have to be on the terms of the Republican party and he will essentially be their puppet.

This may be even more of a cause for the folks to seek an alternative to the USA - if they already haven't started...

what will UK do to join CPEC
Will use Pakistan as a bridge to trade with China.

CPEC does not mean China wants to use this route for trade with other countries. It also means other countries can use the route to cut their transportation costs as well.

UK is particularly interested in construction projects which isn't going to happen as the projects funded by China came with the condition that it will be rewarded to Chinese companies only but UK can invest in logistics, automobile and other sectors and possibly encourage investors for industries as the cost of labour in China and India is rising

I dont really think Pakistan needs UK in CPEC. Would like to know more about it.
ever heard of the saying the more the merrier? pakistan has "cpec" yes but dont you want more ? or is business booming in pakistan so much your just gonna turn it down? since were leaving the eu an fta would be ideal for both countries, so you can export more stuff to the uk tarrif free and those juicey mango's. mmmmm mangos's.

besides where the Shepard go the sheep will follow.

what will UK do to join CPEC

how exactly would UK benefit from CPEC? CPEC is a trade route and UK is not exactly situated on that trade route.

UK can invest in Pakistan in free trade zones under CPEC. They can open 1 or 2 branches of factories in Pakistan that are exporting to China with little more marginal rates..

Actually after Brexit and its looming diaster the UK is ready to join any trade pact that exists. They'd join the African Union if asked.
Ahahah.....
That was a good one. Made me laugh. You got a very good sense of humour. :enjoy:

The GDP of London alone is twice as big as the economy of entire Pakistan.. and we are not talking about UK. There was a news few days ago that UK is the most influencial country in the world as it ranked ahead of USA once again... although such rankings can always be challenged but I do firmy believe that UK is still amongst top 3 most influential countries in the world.

Nnnno thank you, former and current imperialists not allowed!

.
They have a direct rail link to China.

All aboard the China-to-London freight train
It's not on a boat, it's not on a plane, it's on a train. The newest way to send your freight from China to Europe involves spending 15 days on a train that doesn't have a buffet car in sight.

They left European union to join African Union because that's better?

Don't see how this would benefit the U.K. at all!

CPEC is more a regional initiative than "international" one. It allows for connectivity of people in landlocked places a trade route.
UK literally would have no role unless it's in the building of infrastructure...but that seems to be shotgunned by China.
Not sure how opening up manufacturing bases in Pakistan helps since there are other areas where the same investment could be better served.
Someone from the U.K. Might be able to provide clarity.

I agree fully on business aspects of UK joining. I am just curious that are there any strategic benefits for Pakistan if UK joins CPEC. As UK is joining, then surely they also see some benefits in it. So, can Pakistan gain any support in defense sector from this move.

I agree with you. Bigger trade is always beneficial. But rule of the game is that UK must also have some benefit from it, otherwise nobody does anything without purpose.

I thought we had made peace ? :undecided:
We are quite benevolent and business minded nowadays. :what:
Moreover, when we ruled the subcontinent our empire in south Asia was called British India. Pakistan was never a country back then even after we gave our former united India empire independence if I remember correctly. So what's the issue with "former and current imperialists" ? :o:

both side must benefit, end of the day we care about our self more than we care about you. in this case its different, its more to the tune of the chinese saying, a win win.
