'UK preparing to end aid programme to India'

Thanks UK for your aid to help India comes out of poverty.

We are very much grateful for your gesture.

But now if you think we dont need it, or you should not provide it, you are welcome even now.

For once, I'm in complete agreement with you. Even if the purpose of your post was merely to rub it in, there is nothing in the content that I disagree with. I cringe every time my fellow countrymen react this way. One must always be thankful for any aid that is given & if we find ourselves in a position of not requiring/wanting that aid, we must refuse it with our utmost thanks. Behaving in any other manner only shows a basic lack of decency & of context. Accepting aid is our decision & once accepted, it does not become of us to spit in the face of the aid giver. If we, for whatever reason believe that the reasons for the aid are not genuine then it is incumbent on us to follow through on our misgivings. A billion pounds is not to be scoffed at. Even if it helps only a extremely small number, it still helps!

True what u said there we should be greatful for this help. The person who could eat even if it is only one meal per day would be praying to his god whoever it is to keep those who gave him his food peace and prosperity he will not talk of India's self respect.

Hunger is something so worst than death that not many can fathom it.

India is not getting those aid per se.... India NGO's is getting both are 2 different things. Those NGO's are predominantly running by christian missionaries they won't randomly help poor people first they use poverty as weapon and force them(poor hindus) to convert into Christian. So those funds indirectly utilizing to popularize Christian religion among poor people in India.

Stopping those funds actually not our concern.

exactly my words.....
GOI has nothing to dowith the aid. its the Christan Missionaries get the aid. thy build Hospitals, Schools with those, but they pramot christanity with those moey in the shadow of charity.

better refuse the aid. the recent clashesh in Odisha was result of the same aid money used to lure the poor & backwards.

The Aid that comes from UK too Christian Missionaries are for Spying and Converting Poor people in India...

These Pastor think they are God when they help some poor Villager in need to help and force them to convert and then ask them to bring in their relatives and get monetary benefits

LOL at india.... their bragging about MMRCA has not only made them lose foreign aid (read: colonialism reparations owed) from the UK, but they still don't even have the Rafale deal yet. Most likely there will be no Rafale deal at all, and india will have to do the whole bidding again.

You do know UK was giving aid to China also up until a few years ago?

Wouldn't it be funny if India announced an aid package for the UK?

That would be funny, but Indians have got wisened up. They are buying up (not so small) bits and pieces of British businesses and Britain itself. So the British PM and Ministers, even Royalty spend so much time wooing Indian investments. Just to keep British people employed.

Why not invest the money in India and keep Indian people employed instead?

This aid should be considered as colonial reparations for India. UK is compensating India.

The UK will have to sell itself if it came to compensating India.

They looted us, whole of Indian subcontinent, for about 300 years.

They would become bankrupt if they came to compensate for their loot.

Corruption..
Indian businessman find it easier to start a business in UK rather than India..

I tried starting my company.. after spending 4000 USD greasing all palms and running from pillar to post for 8 months, i have given up the idea of having my own firm..

Yes it is aid, aid to compensate for India's colonial past. Had Hind never been colonized by Britain do you think Britain would be giving this "aid" today? Most likely not.

the amount they looted from india is much more than they can ever pay back. 1 billi doll of 1920 means 500 billion of today prolly. they should give us 500 -1 trill aid to compensate for it. anyways we dont need anything from them we r soon surpassing them economically. now cards have changed. the once slave has now become the master. more powerfull than they ever though.

Unemployment as a problem in India exists only for the criminally lazy. We face a labour shortage (that's right - labour shortage)of enormous proportions. In Karnataka at least, anyone talking of unemployment would be laughed at. Almost every single industry is facing this strange situation. Btw, it's not a problem only of skilled & semi-skilled workers, it's a problem of every type of labour. The rural areas are actually facing a worse situation with people migrating to cities. Industry is actually finding a growth constraint because of this shortage. So, contrary to common wisdom employment is not that much of a hassle if you really want to work.

Agreed on that. As I understand it, the issue is hardly that of unemployment, but rather that of appropriate employment. There are large sectors requiring semi-skilled/skilled workers but the work-force is either not there, or too little, or not skilled enough. So the issues are more of supply or employability. Since I am not exposed to it on an ongoing basis, I cannot be too specific. However I believe that some sectors that are suffering for instance are construction and the hospitality businesses. But I believe it extends across many other sectors too. May be you can throw more light on this.
