'UK preparing to end aid programme to India'

C'mon guys get serious and stop living in LA LA land.
No one forces people to take money.
Even if it's just $1, India accepts it.
You guys are a developing country and there is noting to be ashamed of.
It's not like in your minds India is a super power.........oh wait....

It doesn't make sense that you guys take aid and then act ungrateful for it.
If you don't need it, don't take it, its that simple.
But you do and you do.
So to justify it you guys have to make up silly arguments for it.

I think time has come that India should donate money to alleivate poor people of England along with poor people of India.

India is a poor third world country, so we take aid if anybody gives it, we will accept aid even given by Somalia or Pakistan.

The point here is, Dont give aid and think its a bribery to get lucrative deals from India. An aid is aid thats it.

Wouldn't it be funny if India announced an aid package for the UK?
It will be funny but not surprising...i mean how many people in 1950ies would have thought that in 2011 it will be china who will be bailing out the entire Europe from financial mess...

Really our sold out politicians have done a great job in the past one year .

We didn't get bribed by UK in the name of aid and bought the right plane rejecting Typhoon ..
We showed a middle finger to US and still bought oil from Iran
The Italian sailors weren't freed even though the Italian government officials came ..

Good job .. Change is here :)

.
this
SO CALLED AID
was a bribe in fact for choosing Typhoon and it didnt work.

Gora is a very smart species (no pun intended) there is no such thing as free and aid in his books.

The westerners think they are the smart species but they aren't ..
Their foreign policy is **** .
When Asian countries are given same conditions like the west , we just pawn them .. Just check some competitions like Spell Bee , I don't know when did the white win it last time

If Asian countries would have been in Afghanistan , the middle east crisis would have been long over

India is not getting those aid per se.... India NGO's is getting both are 2 different things. Those NGO's are predominantly running by christian missionaries they won't randomly help poor people first they use poverty as weapon and force them(poor hindus) to convert into Christian. So those funds indirectly utilizing to popularize Christian religion among poor people in India.

Stopping those funds actually not our concern.

British aid is just peanut for india. Govt. not use it in any welfare program. This peanut is only goes to NGO's.

For once, I'm in complete agreement with you. Even if the purpose of your post was merely to rub it in, there is nothing in the content that I disagree with. I cringe every time my fellow countrymen react this way. One must always be thankful for any aid that is given & if we find ourselves in a position of not requiring/wanting that aid, we must refuse it with our utmost thanks. Behaving in any other manner only shows a basic lack of decency & of context. Accepting aid is our decision & once accepted, it does not become of us to spit in the face of the aid giver. If we, for whatever reason believe that the reasons for the aid are not genuine then it is incumbent on us to follow through on our misgivings. A billion pounds is not to be scoffed at. Even if it helps only a extremely small number, it still helps!

The fact is UK govt BEGGED GoI to accept this aid last year, they don't want or need it anymore.

lol its true,

I was in UK that time. the UK tax payer alliance was going nuts over this idiocy . when George Osborne was announcing cuts to public funding and redundancies in front line staff in public sector and the PM was justifying this so called AID in the question hour in their parliament.

whatever UK decides about the aid it will do it quietly because it wont want to loose any existing business to the French. They might be Britons continental cousins sharing a lot of "history" together but when it comes to money its purely business, nothing personal.

This aid should be considered as colonial reparations for India. UK is compensating India.

A portion of 1 billion pounds is a lot of money for some NGO that goes out there to help the starving and the needy. Asians seem to forget that their countries are not well organised corrupt free countries which are capable of taking care of all segments of their societies. Some of the sentiments shown on this post is purely ego with no consideration for those segments of the Indian population which benefitted from the aid. It's not like the Indian government will rush over to those NGOs who benefitted from this aid with offers of a cheque for the same amount in rupees instead of pounds. And most of these NGOs do serve the needy (India isnt Manhattan..yet). Sometimes I wonder whether the people of our sub-continent were placed with more ego than brains by the Creator

This aid should be considered as colonial reparations for India. UK is compensating India.

In that case portions of the funds should be distributed to Pakistan, Bangladesh etc since they were also part of the British Raj. Nope. With respect, it is aid and must be treated as aid

.
Yes it is aid, aid to compensate for India's colonial past. Had Hind never been colonized by Britain do you think Britain would be giving this "aid" today? Most likely not.

Many regional Rotary movements in India benefit from the aid. These movements have a majority Hindu leadership. If your assertion is true (even tho I dispute it), when a man is starving and food is offered to him, frankly speaking I would say that he shouldn't care whether the food offered to him comes from Krshna' or Christ. As a Hindu, I frequently donate to Christian feeding schemes in Delhi. I accordingly find your statement to be offensive

$2 Billion Aid, a country which is investing $1Trillion on infrastructure projects really need $2 billion from Brits. Indian government can easily generate $2 billion by adding little surcharge or tax on goods.

But it was funny to see reactions of British after they lost MMRCA deal to French.

That is a seperate issue. The colonisation of Hind by the Brits and reparations for that is a seperate issue altogether. We are discussing aid here and the lack of gratitude shown by the haves. I am certain that the have-nots who benefit from the aid will not scoff so easily at the intention by the English administration to stop this aid
