“Udhar tum, idhar hum”: When Bhutto pushed Bangladesh to the edge of Pakistan

Let's see them...I sense this might upset my nefarious plan, but lets see!
1. Bangladesh will get 10 trillion US dollar. But instead of giving it all upfront, give it over the course of 20 years. But do give 10 trillion USD in the constant USD value of 2018 or 19.

2. The reunification will happen, but both sides will keep full autonomy and more. I am sure we can arrange something similar to Hong Kong and China.

3. Bangladesh will keep its name as Bangladesh. And official language there would be Bangla. It will keep its flag like Hong Kong keep it's.

4. Bangladesh will keep its central bank and Forex. Like Hong Kong. It's better if you allow Bangladesh to have its separate Sports team.(although seeing how sh!t we are in sports, I am not too keen on it)

5. You will need visa or at least official permission to visit Bangladesh from Pakistan and vise versa.

6. This one is following Bhutto's idea. Well Bhutto is the greatest Pakistani, so why not? Both side will have one Prime Minister with executive power. Both sides can share one President as the figurehead.

7. Separate constitution for both sides. Not interested to make BD an Islamic Republic and have those stupid blasphemy laws. BD remain a secular state. Having different laws in different part in a country is not that rare.

8. Rohingyas and Biharis resettled in Pakistan. While BD takes back the Bengalis living in Pakistan.

I am sure if I do some in depth study then I can find some more points that need to be addressed. But are you in so far?

So
  • Compensation in financial form by an economy already doing the Highland Fling;
  • Reunification without
    • Change of name
    • Change of language
    • Change of constitution or unification of constitution
    • Change of currency
    • Combining central regulatory bank
    • Change of sports representation
Exactly what happens when this happens? Cow's teats on an equine structure? Think of the instability at full gallop. Jane Russell's problems would melt into insignificance in front of this. Maybe an architect specialised in high-rise buildings might offer some sound ideas on social and political re-alignment.

Did that not happen with China and Hong Kong? Why else we Bangladeshis would want to merge with Pakistan?

Excellent example.

China breathed more and more heavily until a very reluctant Britain left with a very sour expression after their lease expired. Now the HK people have problems with the increasing mainland grip on certain types of protests and HK attitudes.

Just curious: whom have you selected to play the role of the British in this farce? Don't even look this way.

Second, when does the lease on the Bangladesh territory expire, precisely?

Haters won't be able to tarnish Bhutt's legacy. He had degrees from Oxford and UC Berkeley. Most intelligent Pakistani of all time.

Long live Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto
Bhutto was a great friend of Bangladesh. As he was not directly responsible for atrocity committed by pak army but greatly facilitated the independence of Bangladesh through his unreasonable and inflexible position which proved to be very useful for Bangladesh emergence, so we can call him as a friend of Bangladesh in indirect sense. There are also other reasons why we should not hold any negativity about him. He released Skeikh Mujib early and allowed to return. Visited Bangladesh, recognized Bangladesh, invited Sheikh Mujib to attend OIC conference in Pakistan.

Do read it all though.
You too @Joe Shearer

Well if one condition already doesnt work for me (in quite a specific way that now I can't tell you), why bother reading the rest? Besides Joe seems to have taken to addressing those other ones.

Appreciated you leading with the payment stipulation first though, saved reading the rest haha.

This is a hypothetical situation, dada. We are discussing. Under which circumstances BD might want to rejoin Pakistan.

Now the real question is my terms is only upfront payment + complete pre-71 style integration (though worked on and reformed as democracy allows for it long term).

But now you list the price (as high as you want)! So I can spill the beans on my dastardly plan!

Forget about two, even one Pak was almost gone!!! East Bengal Muslim leaders were clever enough to understand that without Jinnah they couldn't get rid of the overwhelming Hindu domination!!!! But, immediately after independence they showed their true color prompting Jinnah to declare, "They are the friends of our enemies"....

Jinnah said about Fazlul Hak, an East Bengal leader, "Blood of Mir Jafar is flowing through his veins" for he betrayed the Pakistan movement at the last moment. As for Mujib, his treachery was so monumental that the BD folks themselves killed him and his entire family present with him including the babies inside the wombs. And, nobody showed any remorse. Now, Hasina is taking the full revenge on them...
That's why there will be never any mental reconciliation between Bangladesh and Pakistan. Our heroes are your traitors and our traitors are your heroes.

Plus, barbaric pak army left enough scar marks within Bangladesh. Visit any of our big, old university campus like Dhaka, Rajshahi, Chittagong and others, you will see monuments built on the site of killing fields. pak army made each of our university and college into a killing field. Entire Bangladesh is dotted with such hundreds of killing fields and monuments.

Tell me about the reforms first.

OK defence matters (both external and internal security) delegated to each wing. So no one can basically deploy massive number of troops (across wings) without others consent etc....and the personnel are largely raised locally for each wing etc. More top level mutual strategy has a panel of generals, admirals (as selected by each wing) etc and can consult/cooperate as needed there. Or something like this of this overall nature....basically a check valve that prevents any wing dictating and deploying military power on the other (similar to how US cannot deploy military on itself bar very few circumstances ...and the reason for state national guards existing etc).

Reforms past that politically (seperate or joint electorate) etc, worked out with time....I don't really want to flesh those out since thats a whole level of debate.

The key thing for me is that you can only accept payment upfront in one chunk :D *rubs hands in anticipation*. Tell me the price thats good (since 10 trillion is not enough since you have all those silly extra long list conditions)...lets say I am US treasury head and have full authority to issue bearer bonds or direct cash etc.

I don't know where you are trying to lead me and at this point I'm too afraid to ask.

Let me think a bit before answering.

LOL.

Pakistan after 1971 no longer had access to BD resources to use for it's own gain.

LOL.
What resources u had other than jute and whores ?

Read the book of Sharmila Boss (an Indian by the way). Your eyes will open.

This is not the truth, but your opinion brother.

You have no idea how vicious and abusive the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan was.

Salt was put in the soil of farmers which affects Afghanistan to this day. Whole villages were depopulated. Soviets ran women rape pogroms (just like Serbs did in Bosnia.) Men were kidnapped and killed or forced to work like slaves in gulags.

It turned the whole population of Afghanistan (including every ethnic group) and neighboring Pakistan, Iran, and Gulf Arabs against them.

This was several years before the US even cared to notice. When Mujahideen started successfully resisting the Soviets, this is when the US wanted to use them and take credit.
100% correct. First to take up weapons were Afghans with help of ISI. There were no AKs, old 303s and 7mms were used. Even muskets were used made in Darra Adam Khel. Americans came much later with abundant AKs purchased by CIA from China and some smuggled from East Europe black market. Later on american SAMs like Stinger changed the entire game.
