The United Arab Emirates on Saturday issued a list of 83 militant groups which it classified as “militant organisations,” including five from Pakistan.
The list, approved by the Gulf state’s cabinet and published on the official WAM news agency, is similar to an announcement made by Saudi Arabia in March.

It blacklists several arms of al Qaeda, Islamic State (IS), as well as the Muslim Brotherhood and Yemen’s Huthi militia.
From Pakistan, it has blacklisted the Pakistani Haqqani network, Lashkar-e-Taiba Pakistan, the East Turkestan movement in Pakistan, Muhammad’s Army in Pakistan and Muhammad’s Army in Pakistan and India.
The UAE has jailed dozens of Emiratis and Egyptians for forming cells of the Brotherhood, outlawed in Egypt and Saudi Arabia, which accuses the movement of seeking to overthrow the Gulf monarchies.

On Saturday, the UAE named the Qatar-based International Union of Muslim Scholars which is headed by the Brotherhood’s spiritual guide Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi on its terror list.
From inside the Gulf state itself, the list names Al-Islah (reform) Society, dozens of whose members have been jailed, and the previously unknown “UAE jihad cells.”
Hezbollah in the Gulf states and brigades with the same name in Iraq also figure on the list, but not Lebanon’s powerful Iranian-backed militant group Hezbollah.

Several brigades fighting on both sides in the Syrian conflict along with militant groups in Libya, Tunisia, Mali, Nigeria’s Boko Haram as well as Afghanistan’s Taliban account for the bulk of the list.
Fifteen militants accused of joining and financing Al-Nusra Front, Syria’s al Qaeda franchise, and Ahrar al-Sham, another Syrian rebel group, went on trial in the UAE in September.
The UAE has been taking part in US-led air strikes against the IS group in Syria, along with fellow Arab states Bahrain, Jordan, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

The Emirati list also includes the Federation of Islamic Organisations in Europe, as well as Muslim associations in Britain and other European countries.
Oddly, the list also includes the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organisation in the US.

The oil-rich Arab monarchies of the Gulf have not faced the widespread protests which have swept other regional states since 2011. Though, authorities have cracked down on dissent and calls for democratic reform, drawing criticism from human rights groups.
Those mainly targeted have been militants.
In August, the UAE toughened anti-militant laws in a bid to stamp out terror financing, hostage-taking, human trafficking and money laundering.

Lashkar's founding member and funding members would be very angry now.

Not really. Pretty easy for HS to simply re-register and disconnect himself from the organization.. you may still find him in Dubai next year for the shopping festival.. the man likes his shopping. As for the funding members, they dont fund LeT.. they fund JuD.. for political activities in the Punjab.. the same funding that bought Mr Modi's mother her gift.

beware of uae, it has the most powerful army you never heard of.

UAE names over 80 Muslim ‘terrorist’ groups

ABU DHABI: The United Arab Emirates, which belongs to a US-led coalition fighting jihadists, on Saturday issued a list of 83 Islamist groups which it classified as “terrorist organisations”.

The list, approved by the cabinet and published on the official WAM news agency, is similar to an announcement made by Riyadh in March.

It blacklists Al Qaeda and the Islamic State (IS), as well as the Muslim Brotherhood and Yemen’s Shia Huthi militia.

So the only thing at stake is the reputation that build up over the years using that name.

Not really. That reputation will matter little because it is NOT the name LeT they wish to keep up. take a fictional example which has no grounds in any reality other than supposition..

Owais here is a member of the LeT, however this he does so for a few months on end when he slips through into Indian Kashmir for activities via pre-defined(and well entrenched) routes that bypass all Pakistan Army and Indian Army posts. There is other cannon fodder that is sent across the various farmland that dots the landscape.. but that is not for seasoned operators like Owais who make routine trips which can be classified more along the lines of a spy game rather than militant operations. ..but we just made this up.

On the remaining months Owais works with JuD for fund gathering, organizing and preaching activities. This also includes working to set up food camps at various disaster hit areas if needed. In addition, Owais was active in the previous elections lobbying for the candidate of a major political party for a seat in sub-rural Punjab. Apart from a few low level intelligence sleuths(who get information now from Owais regarding the TTP and other anti-Pakistan elements).. Owais is just the guy you meet at the local mosque who is seen sitting in the front row discussing something with the Imam.

But the LeT just got banned and the JuD was also banned in this fictional scenario.. well..is Owais out of a job?
Perhaps Yes,, and perhaps No. Owais knows that Hafiz jee has gone underground.. but his colleagues..and his immediate boss continue to work. The JuD banners are all scrapped and discarded.. the organization's files.. have JuD erased...since it is a NGO by the strictest sense of the word and a religious body that requires no enforced registration.. there is no record as such.
Yet Owais shows up to meet his colleages, has the younger "interns" paint a new banner.. The "ToD".. or "Tableegh o Dawa". For all legal purposes ToD has no record in collaborating or having a terrorist wing. Owais, still has a job.. he still collects funds.. and when he leaves the ToD with the funds.. and new recruits.. he leaves no leads to ToD behind that can be traced immediately. He slips into India like he does every other time..and the BSF and NSA are as clueless as ever. Some of the new recruits(the dumber ones) try the foggy night infiltration again.. firing a few shots at the Indian side.. who fire back.. which causes the rangers to fire back.. and we have the usual LoC complaints. Meanwhile, these dumber guys make the more tedious hide and seek journey into the valley...where Owais has also made it.. but his route is much more sophisticated. and in some cases very legal... the LeT is still in operation...and there is no legal capacity to do anything about it.

Do you really think he can travel to some other country? He was declared terrorist even by USA.
