That might be the potential possibility, UAE will go for the integration of its own weapons. No doubt French will send their own Engineer/Technicians for integration with hefty package for integration activity and some knowledge/technology to certain level could be transferred to UAE workforce assigned to project. Even that is a win-win situation for both countries.

Let's see where Qatari Mirages end up first. India has been buying attrition replacements from France as well airframes for spare parts. They have also slowed down the upgrade program for now but these UAE ones could very likely end up there too or in Egypt.

Good point - The Qatari and UAE Mirages could end up in India if there is any airframe life left when they are retired - or as a source of spare parts. Egypt is in the Rafale bandwagon - so starting to take use Mirage 2k's will be an interesting decision for them.

what for, their last wars always been with their Arab neighbor .

Sands do shift. Arabs fought against Israel, invading it multiple times and now they fighting against the Persians. And from what I'm seeing UAE is developing new weapons that could give Iran problems.

I yet to see those weapons. uae is a financial hub and tourist destination , one missile is the end of those . till they manage neutralize Iranian missile and drones then there is no chance of fighting with Iran

Edge is only 2 years old, but its CEO, Faisal Al Bannai, says the business as achieved several milestones, including in autonomous technology, electronic warfare and smart weapons. But one of the most critical is its share of the United Arab Emirates’ export market on both a regional and global level.


The Rash 2 munition is [made using] 3D-printed [technology]. We are looking at every aspect now of our platforms and missiles to see how to bring 3D printing to them. Next year, there will be a number of products for which we are trying to push the envelope when it comes to 3D printing. So in 2022 and 2023, you will see a number of products 3D printed.

A body frame of a UAV is relatively easy, and this is what we are looking at developing to be 3D printed, but a missile goes through a different heat arrangement. Early success in this development is represented by kits like Rash — body frames for items that are not going through extreme [temperatures]. I think parts and components could be the entry point. We are experimenting with all of this.

The Emirates contracted for the best available aircraft, which is the F-35, but relying on it alone is impractical, so it is really better to acquire the Rafale.

The UAE has great experience with French planes and has a huge stockpile of ammunition, and the Rafale F4 offers a remarkable improvement and a very satisfactory performance that allows it to work alongside the F-35 with all the comfort and strength. In addition to the Emirati masterpiece Global Eye (the Emirates contracted two additional planes, bringing the total to 5 in the future), we are talking about the most technologically advanced Arab air force.

Emirati seem to have a roadmap.

F4 standard is expected to be very impressive.

I wonder if there will be any customization of Rafales for UAE as previously they wanted uprated M-88 engines & conformal fuel tanks for extended range?

Any special electronics like Indian modifications or just standard F4??

India received F3R standard with Indian requirements in the mix.

F4 standard is under development. A lot can be done with it by the time it is approved for delivery.

France was remembered for the military tenders it lost throughout the 2000s. However, the recent export success is admirable. Moreover, although they have lost big in Australia, they continue to develop their market shares, especially in Arab countries.

I want to share a remarkable anecdote:

Probably UAE (and newcomer Greece) will find a places again, in next decade's top-5.

The Qatari Mirage 2000’s have been sold to a French company, they will use them as aggressor training enemy for a French Air Force contract (sort of Red-Air, so to say).
