In 20 years, no Indian government would be able to survive if the government choose to evict a US army, navy or air force base from India. India should openly invite US to place a base in India while the terms are still favorable to India. In 20 years, India would need US base in its territory to protect India from its enemy. Just like Japan and South Korea of today.

I remember so much hue and cry in India over allowing refueling of US jets. There cant be any US infrastructure in India, even if the friendship grows. Remember we do not allow russians too.

I don't understand why would US waste its attempt against Russia needlessly when Russia is long gone as the "enemy" figure. This is pure bull****. For geo-politic reasons I can somewhat understand China (though I prefer independence in foreign policy and strategy), but why Russia?

If you are up-to-date with the latest news, Russia is actually closer to US these days compared to her own many NATO allies. The mentality of "containing Russia" is a past ideology that existed during Cold War. The reason why USA often goofs up its case in modern geo-political scenarios is that it is too adamant to accept and change its CW era foreign policy against rest of the world.

This creates tension and distrust among different nations whether allies or soon-to-be-potential-friends.

I don't ever want China to be a "superpower".

I don't see the point in wasting money on global power projection. The only power projection we need, is the ability to defend ourselves and our resource routes.

But recent news suggest that it is the final goal of the Chinese govt. to become a global hegemon whatever the costs.
