U.S. has said that it values the role being played by India at the world stage and looks forward to working with New Delhi on the UN Security Council.

“India is an emerging global power in its own right, and it is increasingly involved and engaged in global challenges from regional security to the environment,” State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley said.

“So we value the role that India is playing on the world stage and look forward to working with India on the Security Council,” Mr. Crowley said in response to a question.

India has joined the UN Security Council as its non-permanent member for a two year term beginning January 2011.

Pakistan was involved before the US entered the scene but not in a major way. The real money and strategy came up when the CIA got involved. You'd be kidding yourself if you think that the Americans came only after the war was about to be won. Did Pakistan manufacture the Stingers itself that brought down the Hinds? Read the book Charlie Wilson's war by George Crille and you'd know a lot more about how the CIA was involved.

Yeah right. The one time holy warriors like Hekmatyar who collaborated with the CIA are now hiding like scums and being hunted by the same CIA-ISI backed forces. Pak was just used by showing you the dream of strategic depth. And the Muslim world was shown the dream of Jihad and fighting the devil. And they all fell into the CIA's trap.
