A report on alleged human rights violations in Sri Lanka during the Eelam War is likely to be presented on September 30 during the 30th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council.

According to the current time table, it will be taken up during the third and final week of the Council’s session, which starts on September 14 and concludes on October 2. The sitting on Sri Lanka is expected to go on for three hours on September 30.

Prepared by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Investigation on Sri Lanka, the report is a result of a resolution adopted by the UNHRC in March 2014, requesting the Commissioner to “undertake a comprehensive investigation into alleged violations and abuses of human rights and related crimes by both parties in Sri Lanka during the period covered by the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission (LLRC) [February 21, 2002 to May 19, 2009]”.

The period signifies two events — the commencement of a ceasefire agreement between the Sri Lankan government and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), and the conclusion of the Eelam War.

Who is he?

West doesn't madly wants to divide Sri Lanka for no reason. Just the lies created by MR for his survival.
The US and the EU helped us during the war and even stopped LTTE networks and freezed their assets, gave us lots of military aid.

MR's foreign policies are the biggest reason for these problems.
I had enough with these conspiracy theories, and comedies like protesting and fake fasting in front of the UN office in SL while they hire lobbying groups in US.

foreign policies are not a joke even if they considered it like that, we need to get back our best diplomats and face the UNHRC. We cannot stop the UNHRC, we will have have to face mess we created.

As for Sri Lanka being "third world/developing country"....it is fast moving away from the typical developing country. Its HDI is quite good and it along with South India provide some good development models for rest of South Asia. That too it has achieved this all throughout a destructive and long civil war. Very impressive.

There are people with a colonial mindset in SL who are worshiping people with white skin and specially RW's wonder boys. But @Gibbs is certainly not one of them. He was not very appreciative of RW even when I was. The people with colonial mindset in SL can be found in all ethnicity. I think if you put forward your arguments without making such claims, even they would take you seriously.

Sorry my opinion of @Gibbs stands. I agree that you will find people with a colonial mindset in all ethnicities, but it is rather pronounced among the Burghurs. He is no different to the English educated, can't speak Sinhala or Tamil mob in Colombo who are basically clueless but think they have the right to determine the political future of the other 99.9% of the Sri Lankan population.
