U.S. To Return To Subic Bay, Sorry China................

Or perhaps that was the plan. To make the country so weak that the Chinese took advantage of taking over a reef and forced the Philippines to look to the U.S. for help. Which in turn allowed the U.S. to come back. Who benefits more?

we do, you really think a few hundred or thousand men is going to be the difference between China or US? You need troops and ships still stationed in the US.

One key advantage is China has thousands of theatre specific missiles which can target all American bases in Asia, but America doesn't have it due to treaty.

You can probably sort of deal with it if you had the system back home, but in Asia, you don't really got the hardware to do that.

So pretty much all they can do in Asia is nothing until more troops get to Asia, if they even last that long, mobilizing that many troops and getting the transportation, and plan can take month, there's a reason Air Sea battle don't include invasion of China, and is about retreating far back and get to neutral ground and start disrupting trade.

US is like Britain Edward III, expensive relations and no help, in the end you still got to go in yourself. But today France isn't in a union with UK, so how much help did that do....

Okay you are assuming because we don't carry tactical ballistic missiles doesn't mean China is beyond reach of being hit and its own military bases being destroyed. Japan made the mistake of that thinking. For example a pair of B2s just for demonstration was able to reach South Korea from Missouri which is in the middle of the U.S. And if you start targeting the military bases well you got your hands full of going to war with multiple countries besides the U.S. Anyways have troops in the Philippines is like South Korea of only 20,000 American troops is a good deterrence against a million man army of North Korea shows that it works. Here is a simple question. How come you haven't blown up that old American made rusty ship occupied by a couple of Pinoy Marines?

These protesting Pinoys and Malaysians have a lot of more backbones and brains than the south and southeast asian clowns on this forum

Protesters condemn Obama visit to PH
Posted at 04/27/2014 3:05 PM | Updated as of 04/27/2014 3:05 PM

MANILA - Filipino activists staged various protests in Manila on Sunday, a day ahead of a scheduled state visit by U.S. President Barack Obama.

The visit will be the final leg of Obama's four-nation tour of U.S. allies in Asia.

The U.S. and Philippine governments are set to sign a recently drafted military agreement that would boost the presence and movement of American troops in the island nation.

Protesters have been voicing out strong opposition to the U.S. defense pact, saying that the move to increase foreign access to military facilities will further threaten Philippine sovereignty and do little to counter a rising China.

Activists from Migrante trooped to a monument for in downtown Manila and burned a mock U.S. flag emblazoned with skulls instead of skulls to show their dissatisfaction with the agreement.

"Their real intention is strengthening their presence by having their troops, warships and planes freely stationed in our territory, and meddling with our internal affairs and security," said Migrante International Spokesperson Garry Martinez.

Members of Akbayan Youth sat down inside a coffee shop wearing President Xi Jinping and Obama masks while sipping coffee with each other as a creative symbolization of the two superpower's struggle for power in the Asia-Pacific region.

"We think the Philippines is being caught between the two superpowers, and the dynamics of these two superpowers," said Akbayan Youth spokesperson Rafaela David.

Obama's four-nation visit, which also includes stops in Japan, South Korea and Malaysia, aims to convince allies that the U.S. pivot of military and diplomatic assets to Asia is real.

Manila's acceptance of a beefed-up U.S. military presence, a politically sensitive issue in the independent-minded archipelago nation, would reveal the scale of Philippine anxiety over China, amid disputes in the South China Sea.

While sticking to a U.S. refusal to take sides in the maritime disputes, Obama will seek to reassure South Korea, Japan and the Philippines that Washington is "fully committed to our defense treaties" with them, a U.S. official said.

The administration has promised that the United States will reposition naval forces so that 60 percent of its warships are based in Asia-Pacific by the end of the decade, up from about 50 percent now. But as the U.S. military budget contracts, that likely would represent part of a shrinking U.S. defense pie.

I never said we were beyond reach. US can strike anywhere, I'm just saying we have that missile and US generals are advocating getting it too, since there are obvious advantages to it. But it's not like without it you can't strike China.

Regarding the rusty ship, do you doubt China's ability to destroy a non moving target or China's ability to destroy Philippines? Or China's ability to take on 20,000 American troops with most of its hardware back at home?

Given the fact that US is the most self centered ,selfish as well as hypocrite country on back of this earth ...your contention is absolutely plausible !!!

Most countries act that way, so its not new.

We thought about such weapon but Rumsfeld killed it because of possible nuclear launch. How can you tell if its conventional or nuclear. Even Putin responded saying he will launch nuclear weapons if we deploy such a weapon. So its useless. And I said before WHY HAVEN'T YOU DESTROY THE SHIP YET. I didn't say you are not able to. And you be surprise what 20,000 American troops are capable of.

No nation want foreign troop on their land especially a nation was formerly colonized in the past. US colonized Phillippine in the past of course there are percentage of the population against US troop allow to be back in Phillippine. Catch 22 for Phillippine allowed US navy to station in Phillippine and be remind the pain they suffer under colonialism of the past.

As a sovereignty nation one day you will regret to allow other nation to station their troop on your soil. Ask Ukraine how the Russian used their naval base in Crimea to annex Crimea without a fight.

What can we say? Congratulation to the Philippines. What a country do to their sovereignty is part of their business. If they decide to let US pimp them, then it is their choice. We will never allow the US to touch any part of Greater China territories (HK, Macau, Taiwan). Those are prohibited from having foreign troops station. It's a red line draw by our people.

it's not useless, it's good if there's a gentlemen's agreement, no nuclear, besides, at this point any nuclear strike on someone else, and it's really a strike on yourself even if they don't respond.

If you don't think we can't then you should know why. America. Anything against the Philippines may trigger a bigger conflict, even assuming it won't, China's main goal isn't South China sea, or any territorial dispute, it's economy. Being 12,000+ and in the higher income bracket is the utmost importance to China right now, we should reach that point no later than 5-6 years.

We can't be a leader in the developed world without being in the developed world. China has no interest in being a king of children(sounds better in Chinese). So if you want my answer it is fear. While some see fear as cowardly, fear is what keeps people alive and really only available to those with sense. Iraq and no fear with the US in the Gulf war see what happened.

Bismark had fear of French and British, and see how good he made Prussia.

Also 20,000 American troops can do a lot, but not against equally equipped men, being more experienced, your command structure and such would be better and a few other areas. But due to the type of war America's been in, like light infantry charging tank positions, and lack of close anti air for armour, like our HQ-17. If you do that with China, believe me Chinese soldiers won't be like Iraqis and run for the hills, before battle.

Look at WW2 Japan, your experience can be your undoing.

do it, don't troll. Chinese have to face with USA, not ASEAN countries.

Good move by Philippine friends. USA will protect you from bully of idiot Chinese.

I wonder if they will protect Vietnam again, maybe 20 million will die this time around

Pynoys do a best for their sovereignty.

Yes, now their children can get AIDS from rapists stationed nearby!
