The official object is to pop up the South Vietnamese Government, the US did that. Every single year US troop launch their objective in Vietnam, and every single year, the objective completed

US were never into "Getting rid of North Vietnam" because if that is the point, US troop would have been allowed to invade North Vietnam or at least Southern Cambodia. So, if you want the truth, the US War in Vietnam have no objective at all, the sole objective is to see how many casualty the US can cause in Vietnam and hopefully stop North Vietnamese from fighting.

So yes, we were there to kill people and kill people only, and if that is not for fun, then I don't know what is.
