China will either pressure US farmers, Trump's base, or dump US bonds, which albeit doesn't really do much. If Trump bans US technology companies from doing business with China, then it will hurt China in the short run, i.e. 5 years. However, if China is able to find a substitute, ingenious or not, for US tech products and not give in to US coercion, then don't expect US companies to ever get a foothold in China again. Btw US has put China under a tech embargo for the past 60 years and China has been doing fine. What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger.
