Why does the US Navy dislike the use of integrated composite masts? It clearly reduces the RCS of warships and improves their survivability.

Btw, have the Chinese naval architects considered that Radar and antenna mast arrangement (ahead of the funnel) to be placed on the Type 056A corvette (if coupled with larger FL-3000N Launcher) to create a competitor to the French Gowind 2500 design.

Many smaller navies, that require full spectrum capabilities at the most reasonable price, could consider it.

It could also be a decent upgrade for the PN’s F-22P frigate, if it’s not too too heavy.

The Chinese Navy has abandoned the TYPE 056 and it has been sent to the Coast Guard.
I don't think type 056 will continue to be upgraded.

Are the Type 054A expected to be upgraded soon?

China's three 054As (Warships No 522, No 524, and No 537) are being upgraded to the 054AG. the 054AG will be retrofitted with phased-array radar and the HHQ16EF.

Yes, and the original four AJK-16 fire control radars were replaced.

Yes, you are correct, HQ-16FE.
Do the VLS cells on the Type 054A require any change to accommodate these missiles?

according to an interview with the manufacturer at the Zhuhai Air Show, considering the replacement issue, the HQ-16fe deliberately maintained the exact same length and diameter as the HQ-16.

No.

China has 43 type 054A. To facilitate mass replacement, the HQ16FE maintains the same length and diameter as the HQ16.

I’m sure the PN will be looking to equip its Type 054A/P Frigates with this missile (and probably those X-Band upgrades) once it is available.

If this missile is available on the Type 054A/P, then the PN will probably not buy a larger ship until it can afford a Type 052DL (or equivalent) air warfare destroyer. Probably wait till there is a “Type 052E” design, with improvements based on the tech from the Type 055/55A; trickling down to upgrade the PLAN Type 052DL design.

Removing the L-band radar on the Type 052DL and putting a replacement radar into an integrated mast could open up room for 32 more VLS cells on the Type 052DL. That’s just one tech improvement that could trickle down. Another is going from the CODOG to COGAG of the Type 55.

If the piece is still in the $500 million per ship, an improved derivative of the Type 052DL would be ideal for the PN, and the type 054b wouldn’t really appeal to the PN.

Even after the type 054A was upgraded to the type 054AG, which then solved the missile and fire control radar problems, the type 054A was still using the Z9 helicopter and diesel engine.

The Z9 was weakly armoured and lacked night-fighting capability, the diesel engine was noisy, and the type 054A's maximum speed was only 27 knots. This resulted in its anti-submarine capability being limited. This is the main reason why the Chinese Navy started equipping the type 054B.

The Pakistani Navy can replace the Aegis destroyer with the type 054AG. But in the future when India equips more advanced submarines(for example, the German Type 214 submarine), I think Pakistan Navy will still need type 054B.

btw: Type 054B is a Chinese hunter reserved for type 214 and Sōuryū-class.

All the sudden, China has 40 baby Aegis frigates. Lololol

There are six ships of type 052C.

There are twenty-five ships of type 052D/DL, with ten more under construction in the shipyards.

There are eight ships of type 055, with two more under construction in the shipyards.

There are forty-three ships of type 054A, which are being gradually upgraded to type 054AG, which will be China's smallest Aegis warship.

The shipyard also has two 054Bs.

At the current rate, we will soon have a hundred Aegis warships.

If we can continue to build 36 type 052E, 48 type 054B, and a third batch of type 055 in 26 years, we will have 200 Aegis warships and over 13,000 VLS (counting only VLSs for surface warships) by 2049.

They should upgrade those 052C and Bs, their APARS look ugly. If we include the frigates, China is already a stronger surface navy. Need to work on our subs though. There is no way the US Navy can outbuild us. Within this 20 years, we need to build up our Navy asap and have complete reunification by 2049.
