PESHAWAR: A hospital probe committee has decided to expel from the hostel two trainee nurses who were gang-raped in this Pakistani city. The reason: The victims violated the rules.

The three-member committee, which was set up to investigate the gangrape of the two trainee nurses of the Khyber Teaching Hospital here, decided to expel the girls from the hostel for violation of rules, the News International reported Thursday.

Sources said that the young women were kidnapped by four people from Sadar Bazaar where they had gone for shopping. The victims were gangraped Sunday.

The assailants then dumped the women on the Ring Road in semi-conscious condition.

The victims' condition was critical due to profuse bleeding.

The trainee nurses told the hospital committee that Sunday being a public holiday they had gone to Sadar Bazaar for shopping and on their way back to the hospital hostel they asked the taxi driver to stop so that they could buy juice, a source said.

The women said they fell unconscious after drinking the juice and when they regained consciousness, they found themselves in a room where they were gangraped.

This is a void decision. They should be given emotional motivation stead they are given expullsion! :hitwall::hitwall::hitwall:

PESHAWAR: The three-member committee formed to probe the gang **** of two trainee nurses of the Khyber Teaching Hospital decided here Wednesday to expel the girls from the hostel for violation of rules.

The hospital sources told The News that the girls (names withheld) were kidnapped from Saddar Bazaar in Peshawar where they had gone for shopping. Four persons reportedly kidnapped and raped them on Sunday.

The girls were intoxicated and shifted to some unknown place in the city where they were allegedly gang raped. The culprits threw the girls on the Ring Road in semi-conscious condition and fled.

The condition of the girls was very critical because of profuse bleeding and they were shifted to the emergency department of the hospital. According to the preliminary reports, four or more men raped the nurses. The girls, however, said the rapists were two and one of them sported a beard.

The hospital sources said the girls recorded their statements before the three-member hospital committee.

They told the committee that Sunday being a public holiday they went to Saddar Bazaar for shopping and on their way back to the hospital hostel they asked the taxi driver to stop at the Swato Phakat so that they could buy juice.

The girls said they fell unconscious after drinking the juice that the taxi driver had served them from a roadside shop. When they regained consciousness, they found themselves in a room where two men were also present. The girls said the two men raped them repeatedly. They said the men also threatened to kill them if they offered resistance.

The girls alleged that the men not only raped them but also snatched their jewellery, money and cellular phones. They told the committee that the culprits again intoxicated them before throwing them on the Ring Road.

To probe the incident, the provincial government formed a committee comprising Dr Zakir, Dr Mujtaba and Principal of the Nursing School Nusrat Jillani. The committee held a lengthy meeting on Tuesday and found that the girls had left the hostel without permission of the hostel in-charge. As it was against the rules, the committee decided to expel the nurses from the hostel on Wednesday.

this is ridiculous, instead of supporting the nurses they are expelling them, higher authority should take some action

Where is the beloved human rights activist, her excellency Ms. Arundhati Roy?

Catch those rapists and hang them. This is where I have no problems with vigilante justice stepping in!

worried about the mass of human rights issues to do with her own country - just like she should be, concerned about her own country

the news is the same newspaper who wrote pak.i the other day and we trust this paper???

What idiots are these officials who took the action. Must have had links with the criminals. Inke ghar main maa behan nahin hai kya?... They don't have any iota of sympathy and decency. As guilty as the rapists I would say.

i'll wait for a non TOI-let source. But if confirmed and if true, then like similar incidents --it brings great shame to Pakistan Nation and her people.

once our media covers such sad and gruesome stories, action is usually taken against culprits due to domestic pressure

Is their expulsion in anyway related to them getting raped? Or are they two independent events? I've seen this kind of stuff before. The implication is that because they're raped, they should be allowed to break other rules. Or that them being raped caused this to happen, when in fact in pretty much all cases, their punishment was based on something completely independent.
