What's new

Two ex PLAN navy frigate joining in 2018 to Bangladesh Navy.

. . . . . . .
hmm.... on the other hand, our aim is actually to control the Indian Ocean..... :D

No need for that.

BD Navy will control the Bay of Bengal.
Pakistan Navy will control Arabian Sea.
Chinese CBGs will come in to control the rest of the IOR.

I can see the Chinese masterplan at work here.

I guess you know that 90% of our foreign trade is done through the sea.... and almost all of that comes and goes outside the Bay of Bengal..... so, you let India protect our sea lanes outside the Bay of Bengal?

BD Navy cannot take on the IN outside the Bay of Bengal - BD does not have enough money to build CBGs to take on IN. China will happily do that for BD since it is in their interest to have a prosperous BD.

China is a great friend of ours.... but that doesn't mean that China can and will establish military bases all throughout the Indian Ocean rim to protect our shipping.... China has her own challenges with their shipping (mainly energy and mineral supplies from the Middle East and Africa) crossing the Indian Navy's bow....

any rational understanding would suggest that China can't keep that line open through at-sea refueling alone.... China needs strong friends here, not vassals..... and Bangladesh can help China keep their route safe.... its much more economical for China to let us control the Indian Ocean rather than control the Ocean themselves using the PLAN from bases in South China Sea.... PLAN can't control the Indian Ocean with the Straight of Malacca in between their bases and their supply sources....

and remember that realities change.....
think about the reality of China 15 years back.... would we have this discussion then?.... impossible....
we can't be slaves of reality....

BD can allow Chinese fleet to resupply from it's naval bases.

Bro, BD cannot afford a CBG till at least 2040 at the earliest and the IN will have 5-6 by then so we need to be realistic here.

first of all, you definitely don't want a China-Japan-Korea football match in the Indian Ocean.... that's not our plan, rather its the plan of the United States - hedge Japan and Korea against China.... if China starts to establish military bases on the Indian Ocean, that would make Japan and Korea insecure.... and force those countries to look for military presence in the Indian Ocean as well.... Japan and Korea are also very good friend of ours.... we simply can't afford bad relations with any of the three countries....

and on CBG.... did I ever mention CBG?.....
plz come out of the thoughts established by the West.... they colonized the world.... they always have to force their way through everywhere.... for that purpose they need CBG and massive amphibious fleets....

we won't require any of that, since our ships would get ready access to any port in the Indian Ocean rim.... we would shake hands in ports, not battle it out on the beaches.... CBG and amphibious fleets are for invaders.... we aren't invaders to anyone....

By 2030 Japan and Korea combined will be nothing in front of China.

Why should allowing docking facilities to China
upset Japan or Korea as they wont be affected
by this?
