Vice President of Shandong Ruyi Group of China, associated with energy sector, Jerry Liu met Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, here today. Progress on the project of setting up two coal power plants of 660 megawatts in Sahiwal was discussed in the meeting. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that measures are being taken expeditiously for coping with the energy crisis. He said that work is being carried out on coal-based power projects in Sahiwal with the cooperation of China. He said that all out facilities are being provided to local and foreign investors for eliminating loadshedding from the country while a conducive atmosphere has been provided for investment in Punjab. He said that several Chinese companies are making investment in energy, infrastructure and other projects.

if all the plants installed at sea shore than we need to develop new transmission lines, to transmit electricity.
and large lengths of transmission lines also cause loss of electricity during transmission, which is almost 20 to 25% of total productions.

Some of these are upgrades/addtions to existing plants

So all the infrastructure is already there and more power can be added very quickly.


If you start in Karachi as new, then it may take 5+ years to build and bring online.

That area needs its own power production. Karachi is getting its own nuclear power plant which will be completed in 2019 and like 11 coal fired power plants.

KPK Minister Atif khan, in his speach in KPK assembly admit that in KPK only 28 Megawatt feasible in KPK if they installed the plants on run on river basis.

we need big dams, which produce around 4000 to 5000 MWatts, but large dams took time in construction.

Do you know we are short by 10s of 1000s of mega watts of electricity?

Run of river hydel adds at a time only in the range of 10 MW or at most 100 MW.

Right now 1000 MW each nuclear power plants in Karachi are being stopped by SHC.

Just imagine 2000 MW of electricity coming online.

Just imagine how it will change Karachi and Sindh.

I cringe every time someone talks about something they don't know about. There are multiple new hydro power plant productions in and around KPK.
