Not wanting to derail the other thread, thought I'd start this one. Is my friend @2800 wrong or not?
For me, we share very little with Persians. This is just my personal opinion, I don't claim to have the answers to everything, I just go by with my interactions with Persians/Iranians etc.

Nowadays sciences have proved Anatolis are very close to Iranians.

Anatolia was a province of Persian and Byzantine Empires for 2 millenias. Seljuks defeated byzantine and liberated Anatolia. 300 years later an Oghuz Turkish leader as an emigrant from Kazagistan named Osman established Ottoman empire.

Turks and Anatolis are completely different people. At least sciences tell this to us.

I would say Turks are more closer to Persians than Mongolians or Turkic peoples. 'Mongolian' drama and ect... is more derived from the development of an national identity which contrasts the reality.

Ethnic identities are social constructs and thus genetic arguments are trivial in this matter. Most identities are simply based on language. Thats the raw thruth of the matter. However genetics shouldnt be completely disregarded. We are Turks, the fact that we have Persian heritage just makes us that much more Turkic. Genetic arguments are a double edged swords. For example you see a lot of Iranians claiming Azerbaijani's as Iranic based on what little genetic studies they find with doubtfull academic grounds, but tend to leave out the part where Tajiks are genetically closer to Turkic people in Central Asia. We Anatolian Turks are genetically "mediterranean". So saying Turks look like Greeks/Persians is accurate in both cases.

Wrong. Its derived from the building of an identity that pre-dates the Islamifications of Turks. In others words its tries to build an ancient unity and brotherly connection with the elements that represent central asian nomadic heritage and culture the most. The Mongolians are just a prime example and thus Mongolian history and historical figures are elevated to "blood-brother" status. It isnt inaccurate, but so is the Persian hypotheses. The very nature of the Turkic identities allows pretty much every single groups of people to become part of it. The focus on nomadic heritage allows for a shitton of assimilation and integration of other ethnic groups without loosing the core Turkic identity. The fact that we dont look central asian, makes us that much more Turkic. Turks are heterogeneous, not homogeneous thus any genetic arguments becomes invalid. Most Turks definitly have non-Turkic heritage and history, but most also dont care. Kurds, Circassians, Zaza, Georgians, Greeks, Armenians, Laz, Persians, Arabs and especially Slavs.

Selam. Of course some can look like twins, but , on average there's a clear difference, again this is just my opinion.

Persians are genetically and linguistically close to Northern Indians (a term that includes Pakistanis as well). I rarely confuse a Persian with an Arab, but with Northern Indians I sometimes do.

Turks are not a homogeneous people. Anatolia has been and still is, one of the most diverse regions in the world. Although many of the different ethnicity, cultures and peoples have been integrated into a single 'Turkish identity'. There will be people that look like Greeks, Arabs, Persians, Russians, Slavs, Central Asians and ect...
