Turkish Naval Programs

Milgem project was the most logical program for Turkish navy because the most dangerous weapons Greeks have are AIP subs.
For Pakistan friends; if you think there is a risk for your navy which comes from Indian navy's subs your decision is the best because milgem is a perfect submarine hunter

The best in his class, Milgem was designed for litteral waters. Pakistani member are coming with questions why is ther not a VLS. The ship is designed for defending nearshore and offshore like you mentioned subs.

Ther is softkill and hardkill systems what really works, tested with real torpedo like the german Dm2a series torpidos are used. And the softkill zoka did worked but after the misfire it have retargeted the ship. After softkill hardkill systems like the zorka can be used, anti torpedo torpedo. Thats why Milgem is the best option against subs, ther is not much ships like the milgem.

hardkill system is not oprational yet,US navy halted that program, but nevertheless reduced self noise of milgem give the opportunity of detection of subs from longer distances than the classic designs

What part are we using from them?

What part are we using from them?
Anti sub capability of milgems is very good, yakamoz sonnar,hızır soft kill anti torpedo system, lightweight torpedos, one anti sub heli and link 11 and link16(kınalıada) connection to anti sub patrol planes. We did not hear so far distribution of sonouboys from milgems itself. The lack of dragged passif sonnar system and variable depth sonnar systems is the way to go on future platforms as such TF2020

In the final phase of the MİLGEM Project, it is aimed to produce 7 TF-2000 Air Defense War Destroyer (ADWD). T-2000 ADWD which will be Turkey's the first destroyer class battleship; will use the sea as a shield to detect low, medium and high altitude short, medium and long range projectile projectiles and destroy them with exception of ballistic missiles. In this context, SİPER (other name is HİSAR-U) High Altitude Air Defense Missile, which is currently under development, is intended to be used in a manner that can be fired by the National Vertical Launching System (NVLS), which will be in service at TF-2000 ADWD, which is planned to be put into service by 2027. The HISAR-A Low Altitude Air Defense System, which is currently being tested and planned to be included in the inventory since 2021. HISAR-U which is the continuation of the Middle Altitude Air Defense System HİSAR-O, is planned to have Active Radio Frequency (RF) and Imaging-Infrared (IIR) sensors, to have 100km + range, and to use a double pulse engine which provides maximum efficiency during vertical firing. It is estimated that HISAR-U will enter the inventory in 2025.

In addition, HİSAR-A and HİSAR-O Air Defense Missiles are planned to be used in our national warships in a way that can be fired from the vertical strike system. In this context, these missiles have already been given the ability to shoot vertically.

TF-2000 is one of the most important projects, minimum as much as TF-X.

Greece is in talks with France for Belharra (FTI) frigates and modernizing it's MEKO's.
Egypt goes for 6 German MEKO A200 class frigates and 4 Type209 submarines.
Israel received it's Sa'ar6 Missile Corvettes, smaller than MILGEM but armed like heavy frigates.

We have now by far the strongest and best equipped Navy but the regional "rivals" are not sleeping.
That means Turkey hurry up with TF-2000 :-)

btw... does anyone know when we get our Type214 submarines?

TF2000 is a great programme

but judging by the speed of the Ada class and Istanbul class we are probably looking at 2050 before all are inducted

1st Ada class laid down in 2005 and 4th one still not commissioned, so thats around 15 years (if you include steel cutting which was probably around 2004)

1st Istanbul class laid down 2017 and still no progress update so last one will probably be approx. 2035

1st TF2000 will probably start after Istanbul class and run well into middle of the century

unless something very dramatic happens and everything changes

Actually Turkey waiting for its own ship engine which will be ready in 4-5 years. The reason Turkey purchase lots of huge navy ships( such as The 158-meter Pakistan Navy Fleet Tanker (PNFT) ) is you can get the engine for these ships and also transfer it to huge Destroyer in a case of war which some European countries did successfully.
I believe Turkey with 8 I class, with its own anti ship missiles, can protect itself for anything..
