ISTANBUL

Turkey’s first locally-made flagship, recently named “TCG Anadolu,” is set to sail in 2021, Turkish daily Milliyet has reported.

TCG Anadolu, which is currently being constructed at Sedef Shipbuilding in Istanbul, will become the “mother ship” of Turkey’s navy as its largest and most well-equipped warship.

Speaking to Milliyet, Sedef Shipbuilding board member Orkun Kalkavan expressed pride over taking responsibility in a large-scale military endeavor.

“We are proud to demonstrate the power of our country’s defense industry with a well-equipped ship capable of cross-continental operations,” Kalkavan said.

Built by the Turkish Naval Force and the Undersecretariat for Defense Industries, TCG Anadolu is designed to be 225 meters long and 32 meters wide. It will weigh a total of 28,000 tons when fully loaded.

The “multi-purpose amphibious ship” will be able to carry eight combat helicopters, an amphibian battalion of 700 officers, and a total of 1,400 passengers.

Its redesigned runway will be suitable for the landing of F35B Lightning II fifth-generation combat aircrafts.

Reports indicate the flagship’s weapons systems will also be produced locally in a joint effort by Turkish defense producers Havelsan and ASELSAN.

It's an important Step forward to Project Power in the eastern mediterran, Persian Gulf and arabian Sea. TN will have the Capabillity to act against Shia Threat's on the arabian Peninsula, Khawarij Threats in Somalia and Threats to Security of northern Africa as far as Tunisia away. But it's not enough to secure our Interest northwestern Maghreb and against symetric Threats in the arabian Sea !

MRTP Serie is impressive, it's nice to know that Katar will intergrate Harpoon. Beside Malaysia, arabian Gulf States,Pakistan and Georgia. Efforts must be done to market armed Variants with Atmaca to Georgia, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan and Romania to Counter the Threat from the black Sea Fleet.

For our geostrategic Targets in north Africa they must be agressive market to Tunisia, Libya, Morocco, Mauretania and Senegal.

Also not to forget the baltic States and Poland to counter Russian baltic Fleet !

It will finish in 2018... Turkey need Milden(Turkish submarine) asap... There is huge Submarine market in Asean countries... As Malasia and Indonesia will be willing to purchase it from Turkey.. Europe has huge economical interest in Chine, Russian might always stand next to Chine against these countries, unlike they sold submarines to Soviet Vietnam.. And USA doesnt have diesel submarines.. thats why those countries need another source.. Turkey can easily fill that gab if we can develop our own AIP submarines with the 1800T
