They strengthened UAVs with 'miracle material'

A company operating in the Gebze Technical University (GTU) Technology Transfer Office has increased the durability of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) thanks to the graphene, which is described as "miracle material".

The company, which was established with the "Technology Initiative Capital Support" of the Ministry of Industry and Technology, has been working on the development of graphene-reinforced industrial products since 2015.

The company developed a composite resin that increases the durability of UAVs with graphene reinforcement, which is described as "miracle material" in the world. With the use of this resin, the tensile-tensile strength of UAVs has been increased by 50% and toughness-impact strength has been increased by 130%.

In the statement he made to the AA correspondent, Hazerfen Kimya Material and Energy Technologies Industry Trade Inc. Chairman and General Manager Erdal Topaç stated that the company is a technology company that brings together a group of scientists from GTU and they are working on graphene technologies.

Stating that the graph has an extremely wide range of uses from energy to health and military fields due to its extraordinary properties, Topaç noted that over 10 million years of academic publication and nearly 100 thousand patents have been received.

Emphasizing that they have carried out many projects related to product development, localization and nationalization in different fields related to graphene and graphene technologies, which are described as "miracle material", "Topacs and aviation applications are generally produced using carbon cloth-epoxy nanocomposite or normal layer composites. By adding resins with graphene, we increased tensile-tensile strength by 50 percent and general toughness-impact strength by 130 percent. The graphene-reinforced resin we developed was applied in a UAV by GTU Aviation Space Club. " He spoke in the form.

"This means more durable UAV, lighter aviation structures"

Pointing out that UAVs are produced by making a durable coating on a light body, Topaç said:

"Before using the graphene-added resin we developed, it was not possible for Aviation Space Club UAVs to remain intact after falling and crashing. After using the resin we developed, UAV was able to maintain its structural integrity despite crashing on test flights at 90 kilometers per hour. In these aviation applications, Our new goal is actually to raise this 130 percent to 600 percent, especially in aviation, there is a measure that shows the resistance of layers called delamination resistance from each other. We aim to increase it up to 6 times. This more robust UAV means lighter aviation structures, which means longer flight times with thinner lighter structures. This is a huge strategic advantage. "

Stating that increasing the mechanical strength by 50 percent and increasing the toughness by 130 percent would correspond to the weight reduction in the aviation at the same rate, Topaç said that if the strength resistance increases, the toughness will decrease if the toughness increases, the toughness will decrease if the hardness increases.

Topaç stated that this material is able to raise both hardness and toughness at the same time.

"We want to project this with TAI"

Erdal Topaç stated that the works within the scope of the project took 6 months and the project was carried out at GTÜ in cooperation with academics and the Aerospace Club.

Pointing out that they had a preliminary meeting with the Turkish Aviation and Space Industry Inc. (TUSAŞ / TAI) about the project, Topaç said, "We have gone with an anti-icing solution that creates a very serious aerodynamic problem on the wings on the same structure. We are currently in the project phase. Zahit Mecitoğlu from Istanbul Technical University , gtü Ahmet Sinan Öktem, Elijah Kandemir Our instructors also will be in this business. we want to design with this TAI. we do own prospective studies. in UAVs produced general of Turkey, which could be used in other aerospace applications, it said. complete composite cased electric car in the world We want to further develop such a structure and move it to better points, so that it can be used in domestic electric car production, especially in the automotive industry. " found the assessment.

To be honest working with those existing systems makes the project and the brand more feasible, they are suppliers that have everything ready for a car that wants to be on the market within 2 years. They can raise the local part of the production over time.

No car is entirely German or French, same story as with many defence goods but without the export issues. So this is fair game and probably a wise business decision.

Even Tesla used and still is foregn supliers, battery packs for exmpl, was it LG? It took them how many years to devolope its own ecosystems and it still is not 100% in house by house. What they did was slovly devoloping its own techniologies or buying other smaller companies like Maxwell. TOGG needs its fitst products as competitive as it gets in terms of performance, quality and technolpogy to establish itself in this rapidly emerganing market. Now everyone and his local mechanic is making EWs... so the race is on. shortcuts are needed.

The most important thing about a car is the brand, everything else can be bought.

Decades ago the brands did all of it themselves, until they noticed that other suppliers can do it cheaper and better because its their core business. The real stars of the industry are the suppliers such as Bosch, Magna or Continental.

There is no part of electrical car that we cant make in Turkey.

Milletle dalga geçiyor bunlar.

The car of United Nations...
They are gonna gather every systems, subsystems and materials from different countries then assemble it in Turkey then call it "100% Turkish" car.
Same things have been happening in our so-called defence industry. I think Altay tank is the best sample for it. Systems and materials come from Korea, Germany etc. then put 'em together in Turkey then call it 100% Turkish tank...
Arda Mevlütoğlu explained how our so-called defence industry works by saying "either producing under license or reverse engineering of old technologies"...
I am not surprised.
I have visited Turkey 2 years ago and saw the railway system and the trains had slogan "100% indigenous" stickers on it. Then I have made a quick search on internet and found out the truth about it.
The body of train and wagons-cars made in Turkey. The engine, software and electronics come from Symens Germany.
This is the business style of akpcockroaches...

I am not even sure they will assemble it in Turkey. The CEO says "integration of the wehicle" will be done by German EDAG company.

EDAG will most likely be doing the embedded software.

EDAG will most likely be doing the embedded software.
EDAG will be about the assembly of the vehicle, I assume that involves embedded software like you said.

"Araç entegrasyonu konusunda teknoloji partneri olarak Alman mühendislik firması EDAG’ı seçtik."

From what I read by the way they choose their partners, they are focusing on the product leadership approach:

Meaning that they want to put a strong product on the market which will be more known for its quality.

Regarding the partnerships with companies like Bosch, etc. here is what the CEO of TOGG had to say:
"...Ancak ne olursa olsun fikri mülkiyet hakkının bizde olmasını istiyoruz. Ona göre anlaşma yapıyoruz. Elektrikli güç ünitesi konusunda her türlü alternatifi düşündük. ..."

What he is saying here is all the rights for this vehicle will belong to them and they are making their deals accordingly. They had 3 alternatives for the electric motor; develop under license, find a technology partner or to create their own out of nothing but this would take them 10 years to develop. They finally choose multiple technology partners for the electric power unit and all the rights will belong to TOGG.

@Mr.NiceGuy I don't know what Arda Mevlutoglu has said about the defence industry (maybe give a link if you can find it). But what Temel Kotil said about the strategy adopted in the defence industry was that they make a final product (like a helicopter or whatever), the initial indigenous level of the product is lower in the early stages but as time passes the indigenous level of the product increases as the industry as a whole matures and each part gets indigenously developed over time, this includes the weapons they use as well. This was applied to Atak, Anka, Milgem, etc. This same approach will also applied be to Altay tank. Roadmap from the start was that the first 250 Altay would have foreign engine's, 251 and onward would have indigenous engines. We are already seeing light armored FNSS vehicles being equipped with local engines, so the R&D efforts on engine technology are slowly starting to come to fruition.

Judging from what TOGG CEO had to say, the same strategy will also be applied to the car as well: "Otomobil için ne üretiliyorsa bizim için üretiliyor. Biz ürettiriyoruz. Kendi yapabilme yetkinliğimizi geliştiriyoruz. Dünyanın en iyileri ile çalışarak büyüyoruz. Belirli noktalarda ülkemizde henüz tecrübe yok. Olmaması sorun değil, biz onu yaratmak için uğraşıyoruz."

The most important thing in this case is that the rights belong to TOGG, and the CEO confirmed this by saying: "Birden fazla teknolojik partnerle elektrikli güç ünitemizi geliştirelim fikri mülkiyet hakkı da biz de olsun dedik. Direksiyonda biz varız. Otomobil için ne üretiliyorsa bizim için üretiliyor. Biz ürettiriyoruz."

I don't know which trains you saw in Turkey (maybe it was metro?), but YHT trains are Siemens's high speed Velaro trains. The other one they use is a Spanish high speed train I think.

Benden sana mujde olsun. The first indigenous train developed by Tuvasas will be on rails in may of this year if all goes well and Aselsan is working on train components:
Video of the train on the assembly line:
The train will go 160km/h. A 225 km/h version of this train is also being designed according to this article: https://rayhaber.com/2019/04/tuvasas-yuksek-hizli-tren-ihtiyacimizi-karsilayacak/

Indigenous high speed train (YHT) is down the pipeline and they wish to have the first prototype ready in 2023 according to this article: https://www.trthaber.com/haber/turk...tipi-2023-yilinda-raylarda-olacak-443032.html

That whole '100% yerli', I don't like that either. Damn near no high value product in the world is 100% indigenous due to it not being economic or viable.
