"The Turkish-engineered unmanned aerial vehicle "Bayraktar" has fired an MAM-L smart ammunition projectile manufactured in collaboration with Kale-Baykar.

The domestic unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) hit a target with an MAM-L smart ammunition projectile from 8 kilometers away in an test try for the first time.

The ammunition, fired from a tactical unmanned aerial vehicle on a shooting range near Konya, was developed by Roketsan.

"We cannot be proud enough, our all-national UAV hit the bull's-eye with tears in our eyes." Along with these tests for the armed drone, the "qualification" stage is thereby completed. Over the next months, Bayraktar drones are planned for use by the Turkish Armed Forces after the completion of all required tests," Undersecretary for Defense Industries Prof. Dr. İsmail Demir said on his Twitter account.

In the following months, the UAV is planned to be used as an armed platform as a possible necessary move against Daesh which continues to launch attacks on targets across the border in Turkey, most recently in the city of Kilis."

In this moment of achievement, I'd like to remember Merhum Prime Minister Prof. Dr. Nejmettin Erbakan, while a junior partner in the government, was the prime force behind the establishment of ASELSAN (military electronics industry) in mid 70s. ASELSAN set the stages for all the future developments in Turkish defense sector; otherwise, Turkish army was heavily dependent on imports. He himself did his doctoral work on a tank engine in Germany in the early 50s. He made tremendous contribution in developing a base for heavy industries in Turkey. He pioneered by manufacturing the first indigenous automobile in 60s, which had to be abandoned under international pressure. He correctly understood that without a technological base in defense a country is subjected to capitulation. Current Muslim government in Turkey is his brainchild. In the last years of his life he was lecturing on having a KORAL like system which will not only jam the radar signals but also nullify the guidance systems of the incoming missiles. May Allah-u Azimushshan have mercy upon his soul..
