What's new

Turkish Directed Energy Weapons

I don't like how Aselsan has started to show mock-ups of projects at fairs which have development time-frame of 10 or more years. It's silly - yes at least we know they are working on getting funding to further develop the project but why show us something that's yeeeeaaars away.. Better to work on it quietly and then show an actual working prototype closer to completion, like SOM, Atmaca and Akya..

You mean like they used to do?
Maybe its the warm weather in the neighborhood.

I listened the Aselsan official in the video background, he confirmed " that they mastered the technology" .
I guess they work on energy suppy alternatives for mobility too.

What counts above all at the beginning is to completely master the process.

If you listened the voice in the background ( Video I posted) , I guess it was an Aselsan official said " We mastered the technology", but he didn't answered range question.

Important argument :

He added: “Our need to carry gunpowder with is a big vulnerability to our ships. A rail gun could eliminate that need.”
The weapons are capable of obliterating heavily armoured targets at a range of up to 126 miles and the astonishing speed of 4,500mph.
Referred to as “Star Wars technology” the missiles are fuelled solely by electricity which will reduce a ship’s “vulnerability”.

So we have three separate companies or organisations should we call them that specialises in/has taken up rail gun projects that's currently still in development phases.... We know that a rail gun can propel a projectile in extraordinary speeds something unseen in conventional guns and has the power to penetrate metal blocks in great thickness.

My question is, can the projectile size be increased to target moving aerial targets?
