Nobody wants to destroy Turkey. But it is obvious some in Turkey do not see the US as an ally, and so the US is acting accordingly. It doesn't make enemies out of the two states.

As far as we know the Taliban is powerful as in the past. Currently, U.S is negotiating with Taliban. Decimated or not, you was not able to destroy them. Even with a "local partner" like NA.

You've got some point. Indeed, some of our politicians don't see you as our allies and probably this causes some frustrations for the US.

However, think also in this way. Isn't their any blame on the US? Do you feel like the US always acted against us as allies?

Mending ties again will take some serious effort. However our leader and your leader probably won't act mature enough.

The US is not blame-less, of course. And Turkey has every right to have the S-400 and leave NATO if she wants, nobody can stop that. We get made out as the external boogyman by every government that is having internal strife (Politics 101: External enemies solidify domestic support).

I believe that a fundamental shift in Turkish politics got the ball rolling on this, and now we are two proud nations who aren't going to bluff or blink, so we know where this is headed. (Not enemies, but not close).
