Turkey's road map on Libya has positive reflections in USA

Adviser to Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said on Wednesday that Turkey's road map on Libya had positive reflections in the United States.

İbrahim Kalın said the road map Erdoğan had made public had positive reflections in the White House and the US Department of State.

"Turkey and the United States are of the same opinion about end of clashes in Libya and launch of political process as soon as possible," Kalın told reporters.

Kalın held talks in the White House, Department of State and the Congress, and attended meetings at some think-tank organizations.

The adviser said US executives appreciated Turkey's humanitarian aid initiatives to Libya, and Turkey was the only country that still kept its embassy in Tripoli and consulate in Benghazi open.

"We need to continue contact with Tripoli in order to reach the point of a political solution," he said.

Kalın said Turkey also continued talks with the opposition. "It is out of question for us to have talks with Tripoli and not to have contact with Benghazi."

There was an international consensus on ensuring cease-fire, sending humanitarian aid and ensuring political transition process, he said.

"The Americans also say that they have adopted this framework," Kalın said.

The adviser said Turkey's concern was not to experience a scenario similar to Iraq in Libya.

Kalın also said the US administration attached importance to boosting economic relations with Turkey, and Turkey wished US President Barack Obama to attend an entrepreneurship summit to take place in Turkey in autumn.
