What's new

Turkey's Biggest National Security Threat Is Its Economy

in 2003 Turkey had $230 bil of GDP ... as like Austria ( before ERDOGAN ) Austria = Turkey
but 2018 Turkey has $905 bil .. Austria has $442 bil ( after ERDOGAN ) 2x Austria = Turkey

even Turkey is under attack since 2013 ,, Turkish economy lost over $500 bil since 2013
but nobody attacks Austria

We are better than S.Arabia+Qatar combined .....even Turkey has no oil and gas reserves
We are better than Egypt+Israel+Greece
Economic growth of the already strong economies are always slower than the weakers.

In 2003 the GDP per capita of Austria was 32,100 USD. While Turkey had 4,718 USD
In 2016 the GDP per capita of Austria was 44,100 USD. Turkey had 10,700 USD

In 2003 the GDP per capita of Bulgaria was 2710 USD
In 2016 the GDP per capita of Bulgaria was 7350 USD

10,700/4718=2,26
7350/2710=2,71

That means we have actually grown less than Bulgaria. Understand?

Dont come up with 3rd world countries to me..

.
in 2003 10x Turkey = Germany
in 2018 4x Turkey = Germany

in 2003 Turkey had $230 bil of GDP ... as like Austria ( before ERDOGAN ) Austria = Turkey

:hitwall:
what kind of thinking is that :cheesy:

.
Another example:

In 2003 GDP per capita for Georgia was 928 USD. In 2016 was 3853 USD

3853/928=4,15
Ours is 2,26.

Got it?

""""Economic growth of the already strong economies are always slower than the weakers"""""

what about China and India ? China has the 2nd bigget economy in the world and India has the 7th bigget economy in the world

what about OECD ? Turkish Economy is one of the fastest growing economy in OECD

all anti ERDOGAN users are here and talking about we have actually grown lower than Bulgaria ...
and talking about per capita ( you are trying to compare 81 million Turkey with tiny Bulgaria and Austria for per capita )

2003 Bulgaria = $21 bil
2018 Bulgaria = $61 bil

2003 Turkey = $230 bil
2018 Turkey = $905 bil

Austria and Germany are not 3rd world countries ...Turkey is also not 3rd world country

I am saying again
in 2003 10x Turkey = Germany
in 2018 4x Turkey = Germany

China is a big country but still not a developed one.

In 2003 its GDP per capita was 1.288 USD
In 2016 was 8.123 USD. Even lower than us.
Their speed will get slower as it reach high levels. The higher GDP per capita, the lower economic growth speed.

I did not read the rest of your post...

and AKP has won election in 2002

so Turkish GDP has risen to $905 billion from $238 bil led by ERDOGAN

The moment when Kemalist trolls believe they are better than AK trolls...

However, if you want to make a comparison based on GDP per Capita between Bulgaria and Turkey, you need to know the actual population figures otherwise a comparison between both countries doesn't make sense at all.

Look at these numbers:

Hopefully you will understand that Bulgaria didn't grow at all. In fact, Turkey did perform much, much better than our neighboring state. Having said that, we should aim for higher standards than Bulgaria.

Guys, are you serious? What would happen to our GDP if the Lira just regains its losses since 2015? This is Turkey's greatly feared "instability". We could easily cross the 1,5 trillion USD line but we could easily fall back to 500 b USD as well.

Please tell me from which source you took those numbers..

@KediKesenFare , I think you took wrong figures. It is GDP PPP (Purchasing Power Parity), not GDP.
Bulgaria:
2002: 6600 USD
2016: 20600 USD
Growth rate: 3,12

Turkiye:
2002: 7000 USD
2016: 21100 USD
Growth rate: 3,02

Still...

You think i would not like my country to develope faster? Ofc, as every Turk, i would love to see my country stronger. What i hate is some pro-government fanatics manipulate every thing and portray things as if perfect which actually is not.. for political agenda.

There is no one more fanatic than you here when it comes to politics, you keep bringing every topic to politics even if it is related or not! I think you are actively in politics in one of opposition parties.

That is a GDP PPP per capita* growth rate of about 8.2% per year for 14 years, which is not too bad at all.

Btw I have just calculated the average growth rate of nominal GDP per capita too which also exactly came as 8.2% ($3660 x 1.082^14 = $11.030)

But our population increased too.. Lets see:
$238.4B x 1.09577^14 = $857.8B !!!!!

Hooly shit! In terms of nominal GDP from 2002 ($238.4B - World Bank) to 2016 ($857.7B - World Bank) our economy has grown about 9.6% yearly in average !!

Gratz to the Mr Erdogan!

If we take the USA, Germany, UK as reference.. Yes, it is good.
But, if we take the countries which we are in same league with, not.

Undeveloped countries made even better rise.

That is, it depends on from where you look.

Actually, these stats mean not much. Since it does not give us any idea about the life quality of the majority working class. In the graphs the economy seems expanding but we as regular citizens dont feel it at all.

Cost of standard living looks more important, meaningful to me.
