Hi,

Just a simple question---if evolution occured---then why has it stopped---or we are looking at a completed phase all around us and after a certain time---another phase would start.
Evolution never stopped. It is a continuous process. It's just that 100-200 year is way too small to notice any difference.

.
Sir, what makes you believe that it has stopped? Or do you believe that it is to be detected in the small time intervals that we are able to measure in our fleeting life-spans?

Regarding phases, I know that you are well-read, but it is not wrong to point out that evolution is essentially incremental - minutely incremental, with a major lurch from time to time. We cannot determine until long afterwards whether we had witnessed an aberrant occurrence, a minute series of changes representing a cumulative alteration of significance, or (least likely, since most noticeable) a 'major lurch'.

My thruppence.

It's happening all around us.

Actually measurably in some cases.

Cheers, Doc

Sir my two bits ........... the evolution in humans as regards to their physical form may have stopped except for what is necessary for them to adapt their environment and surroundings. However, the mental evolution is an ongoing process ......... they will keep evolving for good or for worst till they make sure there is no more room for any evolution.

I think Darwin at times talked about final form of species after reaching that stage a species won't evolve. Although modern researchers don't agree to it. It is generally accepted now that evolution is a continuous process.

.
Exactly so.

There was a ladida Pakistani waxing eloquent once.

Battle strategy. Philosophy. Politics. Most self assured and man of the world.

Then he says he's 17.

I lost my appetite. Physically.

Cheers, Doc
Some people count days only (leave out nights :p::p::p:) BTW...why are you so sensitive about this age thing? It is just a number.

Hi,

What I am asking is---that there would be some of us---that have gone thru 1/4, 1/2, or 2/3 evolution at this time and would be in the process towards full evolution---and some of us would be fully evolutionized.

What I mean to say is---would there be some 1/2 human and 1/2 apes or something like that?

or is the evolution spasmodic---it happens---completes its phase---and then starts over

As per the theory (story) of evolution, apes were the ancestors of the human beings, the trillion dollar question is then why there are apes still today? Why did they not evolve?

Sir,
There is no half or full evolution. And there was never something like half human half ape. There However were some species like Homo Erectus which is said to be an ancestor of Homo Sapiens. You can say that Homo Erectus is closer to apes than humans. Also there were species like Homo Neanderthals which existed along side Humans. Interbred and eventually got absorbed by Homo sapiens.

Apes were not human ancestors. Human ancestors were some ape like creatures like Homo Erectus or Homo Habillius who do not exist today.

any proof?

I have a son who is 20.

That actually explains it all ....

Good sir enjoy your life, I heard that life starts at 40 :). But we are equal on the PDF :)

The kids here don't know the background behind the evolution theory.
I have some questions to you guys (and gurls if any). First of them is,
Do you know how many types of scientific methodologies are there?
The rest will follow after you answer this.

Well their fossils have been discovered. Fossil record shows that Homo Erectus were able to stand straight. That's where the name Erectus came from. Humans are also a species from Himonidae that can stand straight. So it is said that Erectus were human ancestors.

Also Neanderthal fossil is also discovered and modern humans have some Neanderthal DNA in themselves. So it suggests that Homo Sapiens interbred with Homo Neanderthals.

What else do you need?

What is the proof that they were the ancestors of the humans? and at what time they vanished and first human appeared....how much time did the evolution take for this transformation? How old are the fossils?

Chief, let me do some required reading and get back to you. This is not my subject, and you are not known to suffer fools gladly. Homework is indicated :-)
