That does not look like the same UAV wreckage posted and what makes you think that this was caused by some laser? How do you explain the state of the wreckage? It looks like an impact caused by a serious explosion. More like a missile if anything.

Would there not be footage of such a "groundbreaking" event as well?

Not saying that it is impossible but that Russian who wrote that article wrote a lot of exaggerated nonsense.

Any other news that are reporting this? That Chinese drone was shot done almost 2 weeks ago by the GNA. There should be PLENTY of other news reporting this if true.

YOU CAN INSTANTLY BLIND THEM

its about software andyou need good optics and maybe the mmw radar could help to detect ppl we have the hardware but no one is putting this together.. I would build such a thing if I would have anything to say..

I really think with the right detection of ppl (thermal optical and radar) you could blind many ppl in some seconds

I also think this could be usefull against helicopters and planes.. we should at least give it a try

I agree with you, it would be a good defensive weapon against helicopters and jets, as we can see it destroyed a UCAV. But we cant ignore the offensive options. We indeed should work hard on that.

Where I work we have a laser to burn our logo and specs on our products if you see how fast it can move than you can imagine how many enemies could be permanently blinded in just a few seconds

A little bit more brutal would be to burn them after blinding them if they walk on open area

It depends on the nature, density and most importantly composition of the smoke.

A very dense smoke containing metallic particles could in theory reduce the effectiveness of of some less powerful lasers but not fully render their collimated beams harmless. Start driving lasers into kilowatt power levels and even a solid tungsten wall will do you much good much less particulate smoke which essentially has fractional density compared to a solid.

right now it seems like a joke because if i'm not wrong the laser uses 25kw feed input power, that means you should carry a generator. just for sake of giving perspective to you, you have to carry 17 wind turbines with 1.5 kw output power or 50 1*1 m^2 solar panels with 500 w output unless you develop a mobile miniature nuclear power plant for soldiers.
