Turkey to sell ATAK helicopter to Saudi Arabia

I guess as a close air support T-129 can be installed in KSA military. AH-64 will be an overkill but when you have the full economical support of goverment army would go for AH_64 rather than T-129 but who knows maybe they will choose T-129 like US uses both AH-64 and Cobra.

And don't remind of TW... My Empire TW always crashes after 1750s the second I click on a navy... :( I am in an emotional distress right now because of it.

You want to free up your heavy more expensive and capable Attack Helicopter for missions that suit it. Our Apaches were on an Anti-Personal role on the Houthis fight and it really was an overkill. The poor Houthis nicknamed it "The Black She-Devil" and they used to run away the moment they hear its sound and it was credited for destroying the Houthis camps and triple AAAs they captured from Yemeni military on the first days of the fight as well as hundreds of their fighters.

The T-129 will provide better cover for the troops and not over work the Apaches that goes deep to destroy more high value targets.

And sorry to hear about your Empire you can always get Shogun2 for free you know ;)

Well, I guess you have a point there but wouldn't army choose AH-64, which has stronger defence and attack capibilities and has lower chance of being downed rather than a light heli that could be downed easily by accurate 20mm fire when there is no economical restrictions?

But with Shogun I can't enjoy the devastating cannor fire or the thrill I get from full broadside. :( But I cen easly become Me Gusta by overthrowing Shogun. :)

Wow everybody plays tw here ? :P

Ofcourse we are... Personally, my journey begun when my big brother bought Shogun Total War... I still remember it like yesterday, one of the most important days of my life... I still remember how happy I was when I figured out that Warrior Monks were weak against Archers...

Edit: Lets not go off topic or Zaki will have our heads :P

Well Saudi military is not the same as it was before with the past corrupt officials. Now they are on a budget that they must make the most of. Even though that budget is large but no more corruption means it will be maximized to the fullest. You don't want 200 20+Million helis to take on small risk jobs like Anti-personal missions. That is just throwing money away. With the same budget you can get double the number of the Apaches which mean more cover and more firepower for the designated missions. While you send the Apache team to take out an entire bases, radars and missile defense sites at ease. And at the same confident that your entire invasion force are under air cover with high number of Helis which can do the job flawlessly and at a less expensive price and more numbers.

Also do not forget to put the ToT factor in here. So far everything we bought from Turkey we bought with local production license.

Deno, T129 is nowhere inferior to any attack helicopter around the world. So what if we use T129 with ATGMs+Rocket pods most of countries use the same configuration. Full ATGM load is no more effective. T129 is an optimum solution to all kinds of threats in modern battlefield and have easier and cheaper maintenance thus making it more combat-ready than the apache.

Less maintenance hours = More flight hours
Less unit cost = more units for the same price

Greece has 30+ AH64Ds with modernised equipment, they can barely fly them. USA offered Turkey Apaches over and over again and Turkish Land Forces refused each time and insisted on AH1W Super Cobras and they didn't even accept AH64 to ATAK tender negotiated with bell over AH1Zs. Meanwhile Saudis never choosed a Turkish product over an American one. If it happens my view over saudis will change... slightly

perhaps they aren't that corrupt after all.

What is the link with corruption?

You are able to provide fully militarian technology industrial quality products (Air force, Army land forces, Navy, Military satellites) “equal to those producted by NATO military–industrial complex” only since 5 years now.

You wanted us to get our arms from you only to please you?

I think this will be a game changer.

SA also go for the Tanks.

It doesn't have to be linked. The corruption was and is obvious Arab states are only countries that bought the crappy M1 Abrams and paid money over it. It's just an example. There were better solutions from various countries not just Turkey I can name many of them. I never heard about Saudi Arabia opening a tender before. It's direct procurement most of the time. And it's from USA with sole exception of Eurofighter, which is also crap. And they are buying F15SE to compensate.

T129 is a much better solution they should choose it solely out of pragmatism. And by the way, it took almost 40 years for Turkey to come here. we developed and produced various kinds of military equipment and only FNSS did some serious export to S.Arabia as far as i know.

Saudi Arabia must be the main budget of all Islamic countries to develop new stuff.

A-129 ???????????????

yes the origin is Italian Augusta but its entirely evolved and more powerful beast made by the Turkish aviation industry. our MBTs also base their origin on Russian tanks. there is always a starting point from somewhere.
your own drones and some aeroplanes are based on captured or old American tech which is an impressive achievement.
I wont laugh at it.

A-129 or T-129 I know if I can buy one for my army I will be going to the Turks.

With development of T-129 Atak under a succesfull collaboration with TAI, Agusta and Aselsan, A-129 pulled out of agenda and export markets as well. At present, Even If you check the official webpage of Agusta Westland, You would see the name of T-129 Atak with TAI and Aselsan emblems under the name of ATAK team.

Visit please !!!

T129 | AgustaWestland

At every export success (It isn't important Who ordered or Which side exported Atak), Ataks will be manufactured by Turkey because There is only one T-129 Atak production/training/maintenance/aftersale center in World. It is TAI. To keep serious secret and critical informations related with Atak's characteristis in own hands, TAI joined into Atak simulator development as main contactor, While (Let taking Agusta aside) Turkey's Havelsan (Turkey's simulator develoment center) become subcontactor...
