Turkey to produce indigenous engine for UAVs

Tusas Turkish Engine Industries (TEI) is running a program for developing indigenous engines for Turkey’s Anka unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) and other similar aircraft platform, state-owned television network TRT reported.

First full-scale turpoprop engine system is planned to be rolled off from TEI’s assembly line in August, 2011.

With the introduction of indigenous engines, contribution of domestically-developed subsystems aboard the UAV will reach 100%.

TEI is also working on indigenous jet engines for powering Turkey’s next generation of high speed stand-off precision and cruise missiles.
