Turkey to Build 3.5 Meters High Wall on the Border with Syria

mines are scare and that is what I am counting on..
who said it shoud not remain decades? put there some warnings no sane person would be harmed.. we do not need to put them away if you leave roads as a connection to those ex-nations..

so you have save path and some hidden save path.. it is easier to controle the save path vecause the 10 km mine field controles the rest..
As i said there are cheaper and way less dangerous solutions, also note that Turkey signed Ottawa Treaty and since we are not a pariah state...

Turkey reported that between 1957 and 1998, Turkish forces laid 615,419 antipersonnel mines along the Syrian border “to prevent illegal border crossings,”[citation needed] These mines are killing Syrians stuck on the border or trying to cross near Kobani. Turkey is required under the Mine Ban Treaty, to destroy all antipersonnel mines, but has missed deadlines. Human Rights Watch claims in its report that as of November 18 over 2,000 civilians were still in the Tel Shair corridor section of the mine belt due to the fact that Turkey had been refusing entry for cars or livestock, and the refugees did not want to leave behind their belongings.[30]

Its too much effort for something that will still be a problem after 50-100 years, a wall with seismic sensors and cameras is more than enough.

Not to mention that the existing mine belt didnt prevent anything in the first place.

The third longest wall in the world: Turkish Wall

Turkey, the world's third longest 911-kilometer border, the 'Turkish Wall is woven.
A 105-kilometer area of Azez-Cerablus, cleared from terrorist organizations, completed a 77-kilometer concrete wall. Along the line, 2-meter wide and 3-meter-high 7-tonne mobile blocks are placed. The security measures taken at the border of Syria and the Turkish Wall are displayed in this way.

Turkey is increasing the security measures it takes on the border. Turkey's 911-kilometer border between Syria and the world's longest third-wall feature of the 'Turkish Wall continues to knit work.

28 KILOMETER STAY
The Euphrates shield initiated on August 24 and the Turkish Armed Forces cleared the 105-kilometer area between Azez-Cerablus from their organizations. The secured line was wired with concrete to 77 kilometers. The remaining 28 kilometers are expected to be completed by the spring of ongoing work. Along the line, 2-meter wide and 3-meter-high 7-tonne mobile blocks are placed. Behind the concrete blocks are mined areas or moat.

24 HOURS FOLLOWED
A razor wire is pulled over the concrete blocks. Finally, cage wire physical security system is provided. Surveillance towers are monitored for 24 hours. Armored or unarmed military vehicles patrol at the borderline continuously. Educated dogs also work at the border lit by the night.

Military sources say that concrete walls are preventing smuggling and irregular transitions at large. Gaziantep-Kilis-Border Command within the borders of 2015'da 2 thousand 44 trafficking events in 2016'de only 74 cases of trafficking occurred. When the concrete wall studies were considered to be incomplete, the trafficking incident came to an end with the security measures taken on the Turkey-Syria border

TURKISH CEREMONY
Concrete blocks prepared by different companies, especially TOKI, are constructed in 14 different zones starting from Hatay border to Şırnak border line in 15 to 20 km sections. The wall, also called "Turkish Wall", is the third longest wall in the world, after about 8,850 kilometers of the Great Wall and about 3 thousand 500 kilometers of walls on the US-Mexico border.

67 OBSERVATION SIZE VERTICAL
72 km of modular, concrete wall, 4 km of fixed wall, 28 km of Akerdeon Block, 12 km of cage wire obstruction have been built to the border line within the borders of Gaziantep and Kilis provinces. 67 sewing towers.

BORDER LIGHTING WILL CONTINUE
A 92-kilometer stabilized road was built at the borderline, illuminating the 74-kilometer section of the border. Modular concrete walls and stabilized road works continue at 97 kilometers of the border. In the year 2017, 28 more observation towers will be built, and the 24-kilometer section of the border will be illuminated.

Personally I think the Ottawa Treaty was a mistake for Turkey to sign. Turkey isn't Switzerland or Norway. We share long land borders with some really fvcked up places and people. We needed to take full advantage of land mines. I hope we don't ratify that nonsense and walk away from it. US hasn't signed it and they only border Canada and Mexico for god's sakes.
